These might be actually prettier than their picture. I can't even begin to tell how happy I am. They're gorgeous and hefty while not being cumbersome. Awesome!

About

Indianapolis-based geek/woodworker creates pixel art cutting boards and coasters

1337motif is Cameron Oehler. I am an Indianapolis-based geek and woodworker who grew up playing Nintendo and helping out in my dad’s cabinet shop as a summer job. In 2007, my sister bought me a set of Space Invaders wall decals, and as I sat on my couch gazing at them and thinking about how I wished I had a nicer cutting board, 1337motif was born. I built my first Space Invaders cutting board for myself, and when I posted pictures online, it was picked up by boingboing.net, and I received requests from around the world. Since then, I have used my wood pixel art technique to create cutting boards, coasters, and keychains featuring various characters from the games I loved growing up (and still love), and have expanded my business to include jewelry and other 'classy' (non-geeky) designs. My work has been featured in Food Network Magazine, and on tons of cool sites, including Wired, ThinkGeek, Apartment Therapy, Kotaku, Gizmodo, BoingBoing, and more.

People ask me all the time what the name 1337motif means. 1337motif is a play on words combining some geek lingo, “1337,” pronounced leet, which, to borrow from Wikipedia, is used as an adjective to describe formidable prowess or accomplishment, especially in the fields of online gaming and in its original usage, computer hacking, and a common mispronounciation of the word leitmotif, which is a recurring theme usually in music or literature. So, 1337motif is a business where the theme of geekiness recurs throughout my work and inspires many of my designs.

Thanks for checking out my shop. Feel free to drop me a line.
