WitchCRAFTS Handmade with love and intention

I think anyone who wants to be a witch is a witch. I don't think I'm special, or that anyone needs to give anyone else permission or anointing into any kind of spiritual or religious path. I think it's what's in your heart and spirit that matters, not what anyone else decides to bestow on you. I am an agnostic pagan witch. I feel that if there is something beyond us that every world faith and religion is just trying to explain what that is. I hope to help other people learn to trust their intuition and the courage and tools to know their can forge their own individual path in life. I am an animist and feel that all things have a spirit and that anyone can read energy and anyone and everyone shifts the energy around them. I have attempted to learn to do so consciously, and that is my definition of magic.

I am an intuitive medium. I try not to blurt out things people's guides or loved ones on the other side want me to tell people. I don't always succeed. I do house blessings, readings, cleansing, runes and tarot. I have an intense connection and understanding of animals, on this side and the next. I have had this.... Gift... Since I was a child. I vividly recall my love of dinosaurs started when I could see their huge spirits wandering in and out of my bedroom while I watched in my crib.

I am a lifelong Pagan in my early 40's. I am an eclectic witch and my primary interests are Celtic Paganism, Shamanism, Druid Paganism, Norse Paganism, and the Root Spirituality from around the world, the threads that bind that show up in almost every Path are the golden lines of Truth. I love studying Anthropology, History and Science. I like to find threads that connect all the different faiths and religions of the world together. I honor my Ancestors and connect to the Earth.

I have tried hard to completely shift away from things that when I was younger I didn't understand were cultural appropriation. I actively learn more about this daily and strive to do better and to educate others. If I ever post something that crosses this line it is in error and will be gratefully and gracefully corrected. My ancestors, after they left Africa mostly settled in Scotland and parts of far Northern Europe. They had their own paganism and shamanic rites, rituals and ways of life that have been under attack by colonization for centuries. Many of my near ancestors held onto those practices, despite the unending pressure from Christianity. I strive to carry those practices forward. I am not a Christian, but I see that path as one that can lead to Truth and Enlightenment. Too often, as in any path, it's name is used to cause harm, this is a terrible shame. That path caused harm to my ancestors and to myself, but I do see the Light in it. I strive to shine the light on the Ways and the Truth my ancestors found before they were colonized by Christianity.

I am queer, genderqueer and kinky.

I am not a medical practitioner and any information given on this page is for entertainment purposes only.

In high school I would skip my other classes and stay in the art or music department, I have NO IDEA why the teacher would let me but she would. It was the only place I felt alive. I met the young gentleman who would later become my husband my senior year of high school. He has always supported my many endeavors, no matter how many I start and don't finish. To be married to a creative person means having a life full of unfinished projects! We grew up, got married and had children while he was going back to college.

We found that both of our children have autism as well as some other heath concerns, so between running them to various therapy and doctor appointments there was not much time for me to make ends meet, let alone be creative. But if you are a creative person, you can't really stop that flow, even if you don't have the energy, time or resources to do it... it still happens. I began to make jewelry and other creative projects that I would take with me and work on in waiting rooms here and there, wherever I could get a moment, or late into the night. People kept telling me "hey, you should sell that!" so finally one day, I listened.

Like any working parent my days are a juggling act of homework, housework, and work-work. Having children with special needs is an extra challenge, but I think the best gift of that is it allows you to look at the whole world through different eyes. Seven years ago transitioned to homeschooling my children because I didn't feel the academics were rigorous enough and my kids were having some problems with being bullied. The homeschooling so far has been really rewarding for all of us. My children truly are amazing people, they think of things in ways that the average person never would. They, each in their different ways, are innovators of their worlds. If that is not inspirational then I don't know what is.

Thank you for visiting House Thistle Rose! As an artist, I've been a long time fan of history and that influences every piece that I make. I have a profound respect and admiration of our foremothers and forefathers and thus tend to surround myself and produce art that conjures the strong ancestral spirits who have come before us. I am also a hopeless romantic!

I'm not going too far when I say that I have been obsessed with Tudor, Renaissance, and Medieval history for about 20 years now. I've also been a very long time fan of the Regency/Edwardian Era and of all of Jane Austen's celebrated novels (I married my Mr. Darcy!). Much of my work is either exact copies of, or inspired by, period paintings and surviving period pieces.

Each piece I craft is made with loving attention to detail and care. My pieces are heirloom quality. I love to incorporate vintage pieces whenever possible and let the muse inspire me. All of my work is handmade by me.

By shopping with me you are supporting an artist and helping to allow her to be a stay-at-home mother to her two beautiful autistic children. One of my sons is transgender. A portion of my profit is donated to Autism Service Dogs of America and our local LGBTQ Youth center, Qspot, as well. Thank you!
