Timeless design and vintage styles inspire the handmade jewellery I make.

I love making things, I make dresses, I make hats, I make greeting cards and I make jewellery. I make things that I like because sometimes it's not that easy to find something that's quite right. I've always done this, creating pieces from raw materials or deconstructing and re-imagining other pieces. It's curiosity and the thrill of a challenge that propels me from one craft to another.

Vintage design and construction is something that inspires everything I make. I just love looking at the beautifully crafted details in jewellery, clothing and accessories made by hand long ago. I was lucky enough to get up close to a few of Christobal Balenciaga's haute couture gowns in 2013 - seeing construction like that in all its vintage glory was so amazing and inspiring.

Other than checking out retrospectives of fashion designers work I love antiques and vintage markets. I love to travel and California's old Route 66 has some mesmerising little spots of vintage charm, in a vast expanse of desert I have found some of the most beautiful rustic pieces, even the beautiful aged patinas inspires me :)

I have to say Marche aux Puces in Paris is also one of my favorite places, I could (and do) blissfully wander around for hours. It's such a wonderland of treasure often in chaos sometimes immaculate. Looking at a box of old pocket watches or a ceiling full of antique chandeliers is like prep work for my designs. Inspiration can come from anywhere and my vintage inspired jewellery is the result of many influences. 1801Vintage is all about Vintage Inspired Handmade Jewelry.

I make jewellery from my home studio, which I am eternally organising. I am always seeking out materials for my jewellery, I adore repurposing antique and vintage components. Antique bronze is something I love to work with, the tone of the metal is quite aged and I love how it conveys that vintage feel. The jewellery I make is like the treasure I would love to find.
