Well made, these are great! Love the shape and combinations. Fast shipping--thanks!

I CAN wear jewelry!! And I'll bet you can too!

I began making jewelry soon after I learned that what had kept me from being able to wear most jewelry is an allergy to the metal called nickel. It's used in a LOT of costume jewelry in the USA, and its also very common for people to be allergic to this metal.

In the fall of 1975, my mom agreed to take me to get my ears pierced. I was eight years old, and so excited; I felt so grown-up with my earrings! For Christmas that year, I got 4 or 5 pairs of earrings, including Santa Claus dangly earrings! However, it wasn't long before my ears began to feel sore at the piercings; they became infected. I had to either wear only the original earrings from when I got them pierced, or wear none. I tried different earrings at different times over the years, but the same infection developed.

In the late 1990's, as a surprise, my mom arranged for a company specializing in nickel-free jewelry to send a sample pair of earrings to me, with their catalog. I was hesitant, but I put the earrings in my ears. No infection! I was beside myself with excitement!! I could wear earrings again!! HAPPY DANCE!!

A few years later, I took a jewelry-making class, and learned how to make different jewelry components. I learned that I could use sterling silver wire to make jewelry that I could wear without an allergic reaction. I found the same is true of gold-filled.

At the time, my reason for making jewelry, especially earrings, was for my own personal wear. As I wore my creations, I received compliments, and I was asked if I sell my jewelry. For awhile, my reply was "I hadn't thought about it, but I'd be happy to make a pair for you for a few dollars."

I started making more jewelry, especially earrings. I eventually did a few craft shows, which were ok, and was where I was asked if I knew about Etsy. I looked into it, and in July, 2010, I decided to open my shop.

My favorite jewelry to wear is earrings. After so many years of not being able to wear them, I still get a little thrill when I put on a pair! They're fun, versatile, and give polish to even a casual look. I like, and make, other types of jewelry, too, and I am working on adding necklaces, bracelets and rings to my shop items.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your visit!

Hello, Welcome to my shop! I'm so glad you've chosen to visit. Everything I sell, I've made. I've learned through classes, practice, and trial & error (t&e provides the best lessons, don't you think?) When it comes to jewelry, I'm allergic to nickel, I can't wear plated materials. I work only with metals that I can wear, and can afford. Sterling silver, and gold-fill by request. Not sure about your reaction to these metals? Convo me for a *free sample of wire* that I've prepared for pierced ears, which you can use to test your reaction to sterling silver and gold-fill.

Additional policies and FAQs
Thank you for choosing Artisan Jewelry by Dawn to fulfill your custom jewelry needs! I welcome your questions, and I welcome inquiries for custom orders.

Custom orders receive FREE SHIPPING!!

A custom order of three (3) or more items is eligible for discount:
·three (3) to five (5) items: 18% discount off the original price total
·six (6) to ten (10) items: 20% discount off the original price total
·eleven (11) to fifteen (15) items: 22% discount off the original price total
·sixteen (16) items or more: 25% discount

Coupon codes are not accepted on custom orders. No exceptions.

To get started on a custom order, a minimum 20% deposit of the discounted total of order is required, for which I will do a custom listing for you. This deposit, regardless of dollar amount, (a) IS subtracted from the final cost when work is complete and ready to ship; it is a down-payment, NOT a separate charge for customer-accepted orders; (b) will be refunded if custom order is cancelled within 48 hours of cleared payment (a.k.a. buyer's remorse); and (c) is NOT refunded if the order is cancelled 48 hours one minute, or more, after cleared payment, or the order is not accepted by customer when work has been completed.

For example: Lily is buying Christmas gifts, and orders ten (10) pairs of earrings, which originally cost $18 per pair. $18 * 10 = $180 (original cost). Discount on ten items is 20%: $180 - (180 * .2) = $144. $144 is Lily's discounted cost for her order. A 20% minimum deposit is required. $144 * .20 = $28.80. $28.80 is Lily's minimum deposit, which she pays. When all ten (10) pairs of earrings are complete, Lily likes the pictures and accepts the order. Her deposit of $28.80 is also her down-payment, and pays the balance of $115.20: $144 - $28.80 = $115.20. If Lily had cancelled the order more than 48 hours after the deposit cleared, not liked the pictures, or simply changed her mind, she would owe nothing, but would not be refunded the $28.80 deposit.

Please note the following time allowances for custom orders:
· three (3) to five (5) items: Two weeks (14 days) maximum from deposit payment to completion of work.
· six (6) to ten (10) items: Three weeks (21 days) maximum from deposit payment to completion of work.
· eleven (11) to fifteen (15) items: Four weeks (28 days) maximum from deposit payment to completion of work.
· sixteen (16) or more items: five weeks (35 days) minimum, from deposit payment to completion of work.
Please remember to allow time for communication and shipping.

No work begins before minimum deposit payment clears.

Upon completion of work, you will receive an email of photos showing the items completed and ready to ship. Once the order has been accepted and payment in full clears, the items will ship. No exceptions.

Final payment MUST be made and have cleared before items ship. No exceptions.

Please see Return Policy section for information on returns.
