About

Handcrafted Artisan Soaps: Rustic, Bold, and Unique

Hi, I’m Sara! I handcraft every single bar of soap that is produced by and sold under the 2GOATsoap name. All of my soaps are handmade from step one and each bar is utterly unique. Take a moment and cruise my shop. I welcome any questions you may have about my soaps, methods, or the lovely ladies who help produce my soap.

ABOUT MY SOAP

If I could sum up my style, it would be rustic and country-chic. As someone who has colored outside of the lines her entire life thus far, it would only make sense that I would be drawn towards the less traditional. After all, we have but one life to live, why not make it an interesting one? You won’t find your traditional bar of lightly scented, glycerol-based soap here. Nope, I make soap with bold, unique, and diverse fragrances as well as vivid colors and patterns. My soap is designed to not only be beautiful on your counter, but to be beautiful on your skin.

I do small batches of soap in the cold process method utilizing a mixture of oils as well as 100% raw, natural goat milk from my herd of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats. Each batch of soap is less than twenty bars in size, giving me plenty of control over the quality of each bar I produce.

I firmly believe that you get out what you put it. Thus, I strive to put great ingredients into my soap. This is why I source the palm oil for my soaps from an RSPO supplier that supports sustainable palm oil production. It is also why I have chosen my specific blend of olive, palm, coconut, and avocado oils – I firmly believe that these oils produce an excellent bar of soap that is hard enough to sustain use, gentle enough to be used on your whole body, and rich enough to give great suds when used.

It is also why I have chosen to use unprocessed, 100% raw, completely natural fresh goat milk from my herd of dairy goats. Processing – i.e. pasteurizing – can distort and minimize some of the beneficial properties of goat’s milk. By raising my own goats, rather than sourcing milk from a farm or the store, I am able to manage my does to produce milk efficiently and I know that the milk I use is being sustainably produced as well as what has gone into producing every drop of their creamy milk.

ABOUT MY SHOP NAME

2GOATsoap came as a bit of a spin-off from my other business. I have raised dairy goats for over ten years and a large part of producing milk – really, a very large part – is pregnancy. In fact, without it, there would be no milk! So, as I like to joke, it takes two goats to make each bar of our luscious goat milk soap.

WHERE I GOT MY START

About three years ago, I began struggling with extremely dry skin. After trying a wide variety of products on the market - some natural or organic, others not – I decided to give goat milk soap a try. After all, goat milk has a bunch of fats and vitamins that healthy skin craves. I gave soap making a try and after a handful of batches, I found myself in love with the process of saponification and crafting a unique product.

INSPIRATION

I am heavily inspired by the region I live in – the Pacific Northwest. The landscape of this part of the U.S. is diverse and beautiful. Growing up in first a rural agriculture community (producing primarily alfalfa and cattle) and then in a slightly more urban, but still rural community (with wheat and barley fields spanning the hills), I have found myself greatly influenced by the agriculture, people, and history of the areas I have lived in.

Hi, I'm Sara! When I am not soaping, you can find me either managing my herd of thirteen dairy goats, tending my garden, or wrangling a variety of animals in my preparation for vet school. I am passionate about nature, animals, and writing fiction.

  • Lemon Twist

    Assistant

Hi, I'm Lemon Twist, but you can just call me Lemon. I am one of the ladies behind 2GOATsoap. As one of Sara's milking does, I get to spend my days in leisure, free-ranging through the pastures and romping with my friends.

  • Gunsmoke

    Assistant

Gunsmoke may be an odd name, but it is my given name. As unfortunate as it is, it has given Sara an abundance of western-themed names to give my kids, poor saps. Oh, look! There's three of my four kids from this year with me!

  • Bluebell

    Assistant

Are we really doing this now? Oh, alright. Well, my name is Bluebell and I'm the top doe in Sara's herd. As the top doe, I get to be responsible for all the other does (i.e. keeping them out of MY feeder). It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

A longtime friend and business partner, Falma has graciously offered to assist in the firing of our soap dishes.

2GOATsoap is a small, family-owned and operated business. We firmly believe that you get out what you put in. This is why we strive to create high quality soaps, using as many natural ingredients as we can. The milk used in our soaps is all natural, coming from our personal herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Every oil and fragrance used is carefully selected to make sure that we are creating the best product we possibly can.

We firmly stand behind our soft, skin-loving soaps. In fact, we use them at our house every day!
