Announcement   Summa TIME! Things slow down here over summer. If you are looking for a specific item, convo me and I will get it made,

Hi, my name is Corrie, AKA The Soap Lady, welcome to 3 Sisters Soaps & Scents! It's a bath & body shop ran from our cozy 1930’s PA bungalow. My vintage kitchen is where I make small batches of cold & hot process, conflict palm oil free soaps, lotions, potions, salves, & balms formulated for sensitive skin.

Soaping is a science but I enjoy and prefer to focus on the artsy side of soap making. By adding spices, herbs, & flowers from my organically grown garden, I add visual interest, exfoliation, and color to my soaps.

I am strict with how I scent my products. I try my best to only scent with essential oils that are steam distilled (never solvent extracted), and organic when affordable and available. I never use synthetic fragrance oils. Sometimes a pure essential oil is out of stock, ridiculously expensive, or behaves poorly in soaping then I use a Nature Identical Essential Oil. Nature Identical Essential Oils are a blend of essential oils and various aromatic compounds. The ones I use are free of synthetics, parabens, and phalates. They are pure & natural but are not therapeutic grade therefore I will only use these in soaps.

The base/carrier oils and butters I use are cold pressed and/or organic when affordable/available. When I use an animal product it is always sourced locally from a humane farm.

I put love into everything I make. I hope you can feel that when you use my products.

The Mission

My mission is to create effective bath & beauty products while wisely using the goodness Mother Earth offers. She is giving. She is awesome. Everyday I worship and tend to her lovingly by composting, organically gardening heirlooms, raising chickens for compost aeration, their glorious nitrogen rich poop, and pest control. We even have bunnies which means more manure! I am crazy about reducing, reusing, re-purposing before recycling my waste.

When purchasing raw materials I try to source them responsibly, fair trade or organic, to help improve other sacred being’s lives. People who harvest the raw materials deserve fair wages and a healthy environment as do the animals who depend on quality forests, water, and air.

Just showed up today, and its fantastic. I've been looking for a good clove-free muscle rub since I found I'm allergic, and Corrie was very helpful making a custom version of her Tigress Balm for me. It feels great, and the tension in my back just melts away. Thanks Corrie! :)

About

3 Sisters Soaps & Scents Palm Oil Free

I started making soap the day I learned about the devastating affects of palm oil plantations on orangutans and of course, many other lovely animals. Since then I have slowly made progress towards being a palm oil free household, with the occasional blunder then curse words, I am almost there.

Everyone has a different opinion on how to help save the orangutan, this is how I am contributing, by creating a palm free household, making palm oil free beauty products, and educating others on the orangutan's plight. I also donate to OFI, Orangutan Foundation International. I do not want to be part of the reason this wonderful being disappears from the wild.

Shop's Creation Story

3 Sisters Soaps & Scents was founded after a visit with my daughter to the Philadelphia Zoo where I learned about the destructive palm oil plantations on the orangutan's environment. At that moment I vowed to become a palm oil free household hence my interest in cold process soap making. At first I was shopping for palm oil free soaps at my local health food stores but I could not find any! Say what? Yes, all those "earth friendly vegan natural" soaps have palm oil in them and it is an unnecessary oil for soaping! This got me motivated and inspired to make soap. I got especially excited since I could incorporate my other passion, organic gardening, into soap making. I have always gardened organically, I love it, so challenging and rewarding! My two interests go hand in hand really as I am obsessed with incorporating garden items in my soap. Sometimes, my experiments go awry, but hey, it is fun and I typically can still make use of a crappy batch of soap ;)

Other Info Regarding Palm Oil, Lye, and Shop Name

A word about palm oil: Palm oil is destroying the orangutan's environment at an alarming rate. Currently, orangutans have 10-20 years until there are no wild orangutans. It is up to my generation to make a difference. I want to make a difference! If you want to learn more about the orangutan’s plight follow the link below to learn more. You can also convo me and ask me how we became a palm oil free household.

A word about lye, no lye no soap, no lie! Lye, sodium hydroxide, is a must in the soap making equation but don't fret, when recipes are calculated correctly, there is no active lye in the final product. What happens during the soap making process is called saponification, a chemical reaction between the lye and the oils/fats/butters, which leaves you with soap & glycerin. There is no lye left in my final product because my recipes are properly proportioned, fully reacted and super-fatted at 5 to 8 sometimes 20 percent! Superfatted means free roaming oils & butters exist in your bar of soap making it gentle and moisturizing.

Where are your sisters? Why the name 3 Sisters Soaps? I hear this at every vending event I attend. I do not have sisters, I am Iroquois, 50%, and registered with my tribe, Mohawk, in Canada. Native Americans grow "the three sisters", beans, corn and squash, each helps nourish and support one another in order for all to thrive. Beautiful ain't it?

Shipping
Due to USPS pricing it only makes sense for me to ship in the following boxes:

* Small Priority Flat Rate with delivery confirmation is used for orders of 1-4 bars pf soap or a mix of small, non glass items. $6.80 flat rate.

* Priority Mail Regional Rate Box A with delivery confirmation is great for multiple mixed items and is the box we use for our bulk soap of 8 bars or orders with a mix of lotions, sprays, and soap. Variable rate depending on distance from 19063. At least $6 and at most $11.

* If you only want one small item, first class parcel post will most likely be the cheapest shipping option.

Since shipping on the Regional Rate box is based on distance from 19078, your shipping total may seem high and it probably is BUT I will reimburse you for any overpaid shipping exceeding $1. If you would like, I can create a reserved listing for you with exact shipping. Please convo me.

All shipping materials are reused packing paper, tissue paper, bubble wrap, foam wrap and shipping boxes, please reuse again.
Refunds and Exchanges
Returns are not accepted. However, I am a reasonable person and prefer to make things right when I feel I was in the wrong. I do package my soaps very carefully so unless USPS is playing soccer with the package everything should arrive intact. Please convo me as soon as you discover a problem.
