Who are the 4TXSisters?

We are four sisters, born and raised in Texas. Some of us have held steadfast, while others have traveled far and wide, both across Texas and the globe. In all our travels, though, we all agree: there's no place like home in Texas!

Let's meet!

Pat is the eldest, so she's wise and motherly. Just don't tell her I said that, okay? If it can be created, Pat has the talent for it. She paints anything placed in her path from glass, to wood to clothing, but I'm told she won't paint my walls. She also sews some pretty stylish clothing and accessories, creates beautiful embellishments with beads, loves paper projects, is a master floral designer and absolutely loves creating for weddings. In her spare time, she is the grandmother to two beautiful children, and runs a family owned and operated appliance business in Plano, TX. Somehow, she still keeps in touch with this bunch.

Deb is the original "middle child", so she's quiet. I think that means you just have to watch out for her because she's likely up to something. It also means she's shy about her talents, so it's a good thing I know all her secrets! Okay, well, maybe not all, but here's what I do know: if there is a stitch to be made or thread involved, she's the one to call. She sews, knits, crochets, quilts, cross-stitches and embroiders. She also paints - and recently claimed to paint a mean wall, so guess I know who can come paint mine! When not creating, she enjoys playing computer games with her grandchildren, reading, and talking to the rest of this group.

Jen was to be the "baby", but things happen, and when they happened in our family, she became sibling number three. She is also the brain child of our family store, having been working to this point for over 20 years. I think that means she's been nagging us for 20 years to get on board, but I'm sure she'd say it differently. The loves of her life are sewing and color dyeing fabrics. Back in the day when knots were all the rage, Jen was our resident macrame stylist. Would it surprise you to know that she even busied herself creating her own designs? Always pushing the line on creation, no matter what the art. She is passionate about her art and creations, and it shows in her designs. She was recently adopted by a couple of stray cats, who are now responsible for keeping her in line. Beyond her art, she also does a great deal of research on healthy alternatives to medications and superfoods. When I need to know which food to eat for a particular problem, she's my go-to!

So, that leaves me, Shari, the actual "baby" of the group. I admit to being loud and obnoxious, but I came along a bit later than most, so I had to get my attention where I could. This meant hiding behind couches and giggling uncontrollably when Pat and Deb had boyfriends to smooch, or talking over Jen, who talks a lot, but don't mention that I said that either. My journey into creating came later in life, after a long battle to find out I have a rare type of migraine. I discovered a passion for paper and Home Decor. I've been teaching myself to repair, refinish and/or paint furniture, and reupholster furniture. I have never enjoyed needle work of any sort, but life is about change and how we face challenges, so I'm stepping up to the plate.

We are blessed with a mother who is a master seamstress, and she learned from her mother. Now, Mother claims to have inherited none of her mother's many talents, but don't listen to her. The woman can sew, and sews beautifully. I also believe she is hiding the fact that she can knit one and pearl two, but I pretend not to remember that little detail. She taught us all how to be resourceful and to never throw anything away, because as soon as you do, someone will need it!

Grandmother Taylor-Haas was a master of everything she touched. She ran a ceramic shop for over 40 years, handcrafting roses and painting show-stopping (and prize-winning!) designs. So, it's no surprise the 4TXSisters have so much and so many varied talents: it's in our genes! We each spent time with Grandmother every summer, and while we thought she was just plain fun, we were learning and honing our own skills. She, too, was a master seamstress, paying attention to every fine detail. She could sew, embroider, crochet and knit with the best of them. She was innovative and ahead of her time in repurposing, recycling and reusing. Occasionally, you will find vintage pieces of hers in our shop, when we can bring ourselves to part with one of them, that is. She leaves us all in awe of how truly gifted and talented she was, and blessed she shared those gifts with us. We know she would love our venture into a family shop.

We hope you will join us. Take a seat on the front porch, have a glass of iced tea and chat awhile. After all, that's what we do in Texas!
