Announcement   About My Art
My Mixed Media art is my first love, and has been recently published in Somerset Studio Gallery. I am overjoyed for the opportunity because it is a dream come true. You will find life-giving words that I call Heart Reminders in my work. Words that hopefully speak deeply to the places that need saving inside of us. It’s my desire that people will find hope and encouragement within each layer of my mixed media art.

I do not think I have seen a barn quilt I did not love. The internet is full of these colorful boards. I am so happy to share my art online through Etsy and be part of a creative community. It has brought friends into my life and new eyes to my art, I am so grateful for it. My Folk Art Barn Quilts are all painted individually with time and care. Because I am an artist you will see brush strokes that bring depth, layers, and shading. For my shading I use stain, paint, and sanding all done over cedar plank boards to add even more character. Big Love, Karen G.

This is my second mixed media piece from Karen. She always does a fantastic job of carefully selecting colors and textures with meaning. Her work is worthy to display, and I am glad to have one piece hanging in my office and to gift this item to a friend. This item was custom made, but still delivered promptly within just a few short weeks!

I haven't opened this yet ... it is a gift and we haven't been able to get to Nana's to give this to her. I'm sure it is perfect! Thanks so much for getting this to us before Christmas! Happy New Year!

I am not going to lie. I am super excited about a long weekend coming up. I have been so busy with lots of exciting thing, that I can’t wait to tell you on a later post. Having a day to rest and make fun memories sound worth celebrating with a sale.
I am excited to add a new barn quilt in my shop. It is called the Triple Bear Claw. It is stunning with all of it’s color and native charm.
This one is made with heart, from mine to yours. Come check it out here in my shop. You can also hop over to my website 57butterflies.com for more inspirational art or read some of my silly posts. Be blessed, Karen

About

57 Butterflies

The name 57 Butterflies is from a life experience. During a hard season of my life, I lost two people I loved within six months of each other. It changed the way I looked at the world. It had become a bad, dark place. I felt hopeless, and lost the ability to dream and wish. It was like someone shut off a light in my heart. I became desperate to know life could be good and to see light in the world, so I prayed for a sign. I yelled out to God “Show me some thing! I will take anything at this point!” At that moment a little yellow butterfly flew in my face. Moments later, I saw so many that I stopped counting after 57. I know it was not much, but during that time it was enough to get me through. God was showing me his goodness. God used a butterfly to bring hope back to me. Everyone needs a butterfly moment now and then. A sweet, simple reminder. May you feel the hope in my art, and begin to dream of a more beautiful future.

I joke around a lot! It gets me in trouble at times, but a life with out laughter is not for me. I love the mountains and nature. Nothing clears my head like a hike. Faith, nature, and hope is what inspires my art work.
