About

A Beaded World

My first piece of jewellery I ever made was a memory wire bracelet, made while camping one year (I think I was about 10) from a kit mum had bought me. I still have it too!! I was hooked from then on, constantly buying little crappy beads, which was all I could afford. But they were beautiful to me. Over the next few years beading became something to do whenever I happened to remember that old pile of dusty beads in the corner, usually when I had no money to afford someone's birthday present. Sounds terrible, doesn't it? But when I reached 15 years old, I began to really get back into it. A friend and I hosted a jewellery sale at school to raise money for World Vision. I started making things again.

THEN I discovered beadweaving. It started off with buying my first beading loom, and then suddenly I was making loom-woven bracelets for everyone. Mum gave me a book a year or so later that had OFF-loom projects in it, and that was it: I was hooked. Seed beads were the best. I remember when I had first started beading, and I would write myself craft shopping lists that would say "BUY BIGGER BEADS" and of course I'd come home with more pack of tiny seed beads.

Suddenly beading was a real passion again. Obsession? Perhaps. I was trying every new stitch I could find instructions to. In my final year of school I made a beaded bag for a friend for her birthday. It took 10 months (in between school and working) altogether, and despite the fact that it's probably got many faults in it, I'm still proud of it.

My beading seemed to get better exponentially. A friend of mine introduced me to Etsy, and I finally opened my own shop in March 2011. I'd sold the odd thing here and there to friends, so I thought "why not have a crack online too?"

I'd been interested in bead embroidery for a long time. I had no idea even what it really was, let alone how to do it. In fact, I didn't even know what it was called until someone told me! I eventually stumbled across an amazing bead embroidered collar by an amazing bead embroidery artist, and she put me onto the book "The Art of Bead Embroidery" by Sherri Serafini and Heidi Kummli. And that was th end of that. I've been bead embroidering ever since, so much so that most of my shop seems to consist of something that's been bead embroidered!

Since my first embroidered piece (Colours of Autumn) I ventured into masks, bags, bead woven little people, wall hangings, and onto finally being able to create exactly what's in my head. I'm loving this beading experience, and can't wait to see what it brings in the future!

Accepted payment methods

Payment
Payment by PayPal is the most recommended option.

Due to the economic changes that many of us are experiencing, I have decided to offer a Layaway program.

~~LAY AWAY~~ Available to pieces priced at $80.00 or higher
Layaway purchases will require a 25% down payment, layaway is for 8 weeks only, with a payment due every two weeks, once the down payment is made, every two weeks another payment will be due, for a total of 4 payments. If you do not make your payments, after the 8 weeks has past, you have the choice to pay the balance in full, if no further payments are made you will forfeit your 25% deposit. No purchases will be sent until all payments have been received and shipping fees have been included. Item/s remains on "RESERVED FOR {YOUR NAME}" until final payment is received and the piece/s is sent to you. Please CONVO me to set up your Lay Away payment.
NOTE: this policy can be adjusted depending on your psersonal needs, please convo me if you require a variation on this policy.
Shipping
I will ship the items in strong gift boxes (for relatively large items ie, large necklaces and some bracelets) or good quality organza bags, or both (in special cases). This will be placed in a larger postage bag or box when it is shipped to you. If you are an international buyer please allow UP TO 1 month for the item to reach you. I will be shipping by air mail internationally. If you would like to receive your item faster, please contact me before buying the item to obtain shipping costs for these faster methods.
Refunds and Exchanges
All items except beads are only refundable within 21 days of delivery, providing they are in the same condition in which they were sent to you. Items can be exchanged (except beads) only if they are in the condition in which they were sent to you. If an item needs fixing or adjusting I will do this and pay the postage back to you (this is only once per item, excluding handmade beads. Postage will be paid by you if it needs this again) if it is not your fault. I am not responsible for damages sustained in shipping, as this is completely out of my hands. A refund is available on return of the item if the item is not exactly what I say it is in the listing when it arrives (providing this is nothing to do with shipping damage: I will repair the item in thses cases for you). Custom-made items are NON-refundable. You will receive continual pictures of the custom-made item for approval prior postage to ensure that it is exactly what you wanted and asked for. If approved, the item will be sent, no refunds or exchanges. If not approved to your satisfaction, we will redo the custom order to achieve exactly what it is you want.
Additional policies and FAQs
If you would like an item in another colour, or would like to place a custom order, please send me a message. You can order an item in another colour only if the item has this mentioned in the description. This is because I can replicate these products. Items that do not say this mean I cannot get the materials to replicate the product, because they are OOAK (one of a kind), and therefore unique and special.

Please be aware that complex beadwork such as bead embroidery and bead weaving are very time consuming. They take a large amount of time to complete, depending on the piece, and can therefore be rather expensive. I try to minimise the labour cost to you, but I do not wish to under value my work, and therefore me. Due to the amount of time, love and care that goes into each and every piece, I ask you to do your best to treat your items in the same way. Anything that comes in a box should be kept in that box and away from sunlight. If you would prefer to display your items on a shelf or jewelry stand, keep it away from direct sunlight. Do not allow in water (especially not the bead embroidered pieces!!), and nor should you wear it to bed. This is all to make sure that your lovely items last as long as possible to become "heirlooms" in your family. By claiming I make "heirloom quality bead treasure" I assume that you will care for your piece/s in the way I have mentioned above.

Thankyou for visiting my shop!
