ADFceramics

Artisan ceramic studio in the heart of Oxfordshire

Announcement    Welcome to ADF ceramics shop, here you can find contemporary unique ceramic pieces to decorate your house and/or hopefully use everyday in your kitchen and at the table. Each piece is handmade locally in a little town of the Oxfordshire county. My ceramics are handcrafted with care following a long process from the design to the complete handmade realization, which lasts about 4 weeks. First the clay (stoneware, porcelain or terracotta) is modelled either by hand from slabs or at the pottery wheel. Then it is refined before it is completely dry, giving the final and clean shape. Once the clay is bone dry, it is fired in a large kiln at 1040 degrees Celsius for a day and a half. The so obtained bisqued ceramics are then decorated and glazed with food safe glazes made by me, which are lead and cadmium free. Finally the pieces are fired again but at higher temperature (1260-1300 C) for 2 days in order to vitrify the clay and the glaze together in one very resistant and durable piece. Furthermore, each piece is sanded after every firing to make them smooth and nice to the touch, so that they are a pleasure to handle. For more info about my work and the process you can follow ADF ceramics on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/adf_ceramics/) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ADFceramics).

Please don't hesitate to contact me for any questions and concerns, I will reply you ASAP.

Thanks for visiting and happy shopping with ADFceramics.
