About

Vintage Tablecloths are Delightful!

My first vintage tablecloth was given to me by my friend Linda. Though stained, she knew I would love the beautiful tablecloth as art. I made an apron. And that pink apron became the inspiration for ADelightfulReuse on Etsy.

It's a hard decision whether or not to cut a vintage tablecloth. But if it truly will not grace a table again and it is not a collector's dream, then out come the scissors! When I make aprons, I look for tablecloths with vibrant color, that will wear well, and iron well. Then I work around holes and stains and come up with an artsy-apron. Or a tote bag. Or note cards. Or gift tags. No scraps are wasted and the upcycling is fun.

People tell me that no one cooks anymore. No one wears aprons anymore. That's no fun! Put on an artsy-apron and bake something. You will enjoy it!

Lovely mid-century tablecloths are works of art. When I find old tablecloths with holes and stains, I see beautiful aprons! I've researched and cataloged the tablecloths in my collection since 2006. Browsing through my catalog is a ten-year journal.
