Facts:
My custom items are made with PLA plastic, a plastic that is derived from plants and is commercially compostable. That means it will stand up to what you need it for but when it finds the end of it's life it it will not outlive generation after generation in a landfill. The filament I use is manufactured in a dust free environment using 100% virgin materials so everything that goes into them is known. Most are colored with dyes approved by the FDA for use in foods and other colorants and elastomers are carefully researched for the safety of our crabs. It is food safe when cleaned properly and when treated like any other multi-use consumer plastic. For example avoid hot foods and the microwave. Do not boil to clean. I only use PLA in my printers to avoid print head contamination. I never use PLAs with glitter, fibers or wood to avoid unknown contaminants. Products are in-tank tested by my crabs for as long as 6 months to see if there is any question that they may experience leaks, heat sag, deformation, or any type of misfunction from crabs, water or heat mats.

Policies:
I have dogs in my home but all items are washed in the most appropriate way before shipping and packing.
My home is smoke free.
As of July 2021 this shop will no longer perchance single use plastics. This effort includes reusing boxes, packing paper, and air packing, buying compostable and reusable mailers and bags, and switching to paper tape. This change may not be fully evident until my current stock of supplies is depleted. I have also switched to new boxes, when needed, that are 100% recycled and made in the USA.
About me:
I’m Savannah Claussen and after art school I became a service writer. What’s that? I helped you decide what work your car needed. After that I joined my 60-year-old family business as the 4th generation. I am now the office manager and it’s a big job. We sell tractors and commercial mowers. To say the least, until I started this store, I was deprived of art. I love the challenge of working in a man’s industry and continuing my family legacy, but art will always have a place in my heart. The expression it gives me and the opportunity to bring people joy and good energy bring beauty to my life. When I’m not working or doing art I work with my local Fuller Center for housing, take care of my many hobbies and non-crab pets or spend time with my husband to be Keegan.
In mid-2020 I decided to adopt hermit crabs and quickly became involved with the community. That lead me to create A little Crabby Co-Op to supply small amounts of products normally found in bulk in small quantities at my cost. Those products are still staples of my shop, but I was not happy with my contribution to the world of hermit crab care. I knew there was more. I found that new world in 3D printing. I add new items if not every other day, every week. My goal is to stay on the cutting edge of hermit crab building. I am also a LHCOS approved adopter with a specialty in emergency situations. I have 14 adopted crabs and have big plans for expanding, all funded by this shop.
I have always felt a deep connection to the earth and nature. I feel more alive than ever when I am close to it. In my small 900 square foot home I have over 100 house plants including trees and large cacti. I spend as much time as I can in local bodies of water. I prefer natural uncut crystals over expensive rare stones and study natural healing with vitamins, oils, meditation, and energy as well as spell work and divination in my little down time. I take inspiration for my work from the energy and nature around me and hope every item gives you good vibes.
I’m so glad you found my store. Contact me if you have any questions or even just to say "hello."
