Definitely follow the directions and wash it before the first use, smells a little weird straight out of the box. Adequate softness and pretty handle.

I purchased the Ebony Black stand. It's a beautiful shiny black, and matches the black handle of my brush. The material is thick and sturdy. I put small adhesive black rubber feet on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on the potentially wet counter top (manufacturer should consider putting them on as part of product). Although I still gave it 5 stars, there was one thing that I feel that can be improved on is that the the entire stand had sharp edges (from the manufacturing process). I sanded all of the edges to make them smooth and the stand comfortable to handle.
