Hi, I'm Lauren — the artist and maker behind The Abstract Alchemist, based in the heart of Austin, Texas. 🌿✨

I started creating acrylic fluid art paintings but hated wasting the excess paint that would drip off the canvas. Although I still create paintings, I have found a love in creating handcrafted inspired jewelry and accessories showcasing the acrylic pours within.

I create because it shuts my mind off and time seems to become irrelevant. I currently work as an executive chef in a restaurant in Austin TX where stress is an undeniable part of the job. So, finding something that brings a sense of calmness, and a still moment is essential.

I’ve spent most of my life chasing the moments that make you stop. Not permanently, just long enough to breathe. Long enough to feel the ground under my feet and remember that I am a person, not just a brain running at full speed with no off switch.

Creating The Abstract Alchemist has been a journey of finding what I truly want my brand to be about. The bottom line always comes back to finding the stillness in chaos. You can set an intention, choose your colors, and control your technique, but then chaos takes over and finishes the job for you. For someone who plans everything I found peace in watching the paint flow across the canvas unforgivingly. Whether it be sitting down to create, looking at a painting to ground you and falling into each mesmerizing angle, or putting on a piece of jewelry that describes your personality remember there is more to life than chaos and your to do list.

My work grounds me and makes me remember to enjoy the little things. I find inspiration in nature, the ocean, the woods, and the endless sky and galaxy. Because nature has always been my outlet I find a lot of my inspiration from the natural beauty it has to offer. I hope my products will bring this sense of stillness and meaning into your life as well.

I am a chef who paints, a thinker who needs an outlet to stop thinking, a woman who went down a rabbit hole and never really came back up. And I am so glad I didn’t. I want to share these feelings that art can bring with others through meaningful products.
