About

Affordable, quality, handmade 18 inch Doll Clothes

I started knitting, crotchet and sewing at a very young age. I grew up in small village in Lincolnshire, England. I am only child and there were no play dates or close friend within walking or cycling distance and I started copying my mother's knitting, crochet and sewing. New clothes were a luxury and were Christmas presents that had to last the year. One learned very quickly to make items last. To supplement the few clothes I made simple items to begin with such as blankets, hats and scarves. The only sewing machine was an treadle model, which I was not allowed to use, which developed my hand sewing skills. Simple techniques evolved to more complex structures and embroidery was added.

After High School, I moved away from the village and had a sewing machine of my own. Next was a four year "Fashion" course at Technology College in England The course concentrated on couturier and one off designs emphasizing hand drafting and draping. Following that course I obtained my C&G teaching certificate.

I left England and Europe for the US and settled in Andover. I continued my pursuit of dress design and added redesign of commercial garments. After exploring other areas of crafts including hand making contemporary Nantucket Baskets, I entered my items in local craft shows. A friend I shared a booth with made primitive dolls, so I decided to make 18 inch doll clothes.to compliment her display. I was able to apply my skills to the design and construction of the dolls clothes now available on Etsy.

My other interests include weaving, cooking, knitting, sewing and bicycle touring on a recumbent trike.
