About

Accentuates Clothing

I studied fashion design in the UK. I worked in London as a merchandiser for a large national retail store and later as a production assistant for a manufacturer. Eventually I started my own small business making and selling women's separates to a few boutiques and the local London Camden market.

I worked in Bangladesh for a few years in an NGO; Core The Jute Works, (via VSO, Volunteer Service Overseas) helping to orient their handicraft products to western tastes and for more income for the rural women. I incorporated the local women's hand sewing into garments and instigated the formation of Bangladesh's first handicrafts forum: ECOTA.

Now I live in Asheville North Carolina. Here we have many dance and theatre performers and festivals galore. I make dance wear, performance wear, fitness wear.

I love to dance; and have done so all my life; ballet, jazz, bellydance, burlesque, contact improv and ecstatic dance. I have performed as a bellydancer in many venues in L.A. In Asheville I founded and performed in a burlesque troupe making many of the costumes. Choreographing and designing for multi-media art, fashion and dance events continues to fascinate me at present.

I love to see how fabric moves on the body, how it drapes and how to best flatter the body and make it more beautiful. I get inspired everywhere; on the street, at festivals or in dance class. To me stretch fabric is the future, and producing it and the fibers responsibly.

Occasionally I recycle fabrics from vintage dresses or skirts.

The revival of local economies interests me; and slow design. The slow design movement promotes design that looks at longer cycles of human behavior, sustainability and manufacturing with local/regional materials and technologies. Slow Designers support local industries, workshops and craftspeople.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. Thank you for visiting my shop!

Shipping
SHIPPING
I will always let you know when I have shipped your order. Once it has left my care I can not take any responsibility if undelivered.

Insurance is available at your request, let me know and I will adjust the invoice. If you would like insurance and/or track-ability, convo me prior to ordering, and I’ll specify the extra cost.

Seller is NOT responsible for customs fees and import taxes imposed on Buyer by their country of residence.

To keep your package light-weight and shipping costs to a minimum, items are shipped in a padded envelopes if small or padded cardboard box. $1.50 is generally included in the shipping cost for handling.

Packaging materials used are recycled bags, paper, ribbons, etc. in an effort to be environmentally friendly. If you prefer non-recycled packaging materials, let me know when you place the order.

I usually try to ship within 5 business days; depending upon garment order, the season and assuming payment has cleared, with the exception of weekends and holidays. If in stock the garment will ship upon receipt of payment. If I for some reason can’t do this, I’ll let you know through a convo.

If your Etsy and PayPal address differ, please let me know which one to use in ‘message to seller’ during checkout. If you do not notify me the item will be shipped to your Etsy address.

I use USPS however if you prefer a different carrier, let me know and I will adjust the charges if necessary.

MULTIPLE ITEMS PURCHASE
Typically I will refund you any excess shipping costs when you purchase multiple items. It can sometimes be risky to discount "additional items" so after I have been to USPS I can give a prompt payment via PayPal.

FEEDBACK & COMMUNICATION
Feedback is greatly appreciated. I love to hear that you are enjoying your purchase.
Refunds and Exchanges
Items are non refundable.

If an item does not fit, because you mis-measured, you don't like it or you changed your mind, that is not grounds for replacement. Once you purchase an order THERE ARE NO REFUNDS.

I am a very small company, so please choose wisely! I make every effort to photograph everything, and represent their colours as best as I can. If you need an exact match, convo me, and i will be happy to make arrangements to mail swatches to you first.
