Ad Tumulum Arts Shop - Custom Linocut Watercolor Pastel Acrylic & Wearable Art

Hi, I'm J. Eric Cook - a printmaker and painter in Brooklyn, NY. or rather, that's what I was before March 13, 2020. So much has changed since the Pandemic.

On April 24, I bought a sewing machine (maybe the last in NYC at the time!) and spent the next 51 days learning how to sew and mask design. Designed to protect essential workers in my family, I now offer almost 20 original designs, by me and artist friends.

"Ad Tumulum" is a cri de coeur to Creation, to connect with the World. Latin for "toward the tomb," it means: Live Every Day - while you can, until you cannot! To me it means working with Patience, Humility and Thoughtfulness. Attributes you will find in everything I make for you.

All of my paintings and linocuts are hand-made and crafted. The linocut prints are hand-pressed on Gus, my 6-ton bottle jack platen press. I use Winsor & Newton professional watercolor paints and prefer Liquitex and Golden Heavy Body acrylics. The richness of the Sennelier oil pastels keep me coming back for more!

My reproduction prints and postcards are all based on my own original artwork and photographs. They are printed on high quality, heavy stock, acid-free photographic paper.

And Mollie's Mysterious Monotype Machine is a marvel! An art-making wonder at 7,000rpm!

You can find the Ad Tumulum Arts Road Show in Washington Square Park & Union Square in New York City on the weekends, when it isn't too windy or too wet. Or too Covid.
