Addielou ha iniziato ufficialmente nel 2007; se vuoi una risposta diretta. Credo che Addielou abbia iniziato molto prima. Fin da quando ricordo ho amato l'abbigliamento e il design. Potrebbe essere iniziato il mio primo giorno di scuola materna quando mia madre mi ha comprato questo paio di tute Osh'kosh con finiture gialle che ho appena amato o quando avevo 6 anni e io e mio fratello facevamo sitcom con i molti giocattoli che prendevamo dai pasti per bambini, dai negozi dell'usato e dal negozio di giocattoli e facevo i vestiti della mia Barbie con scarti di tessuto e spille da balia.
Quando avevo 15 anni dopo aver disegnato e cucito a mano molte gonne, i miei genitori mi hanno comprato la mia prima macchina da cucire durante uno scambio di regali di famiglia. Poi è iniziato il vero divertimento! Io e la mia macchina da cucire siamo diventati inseparabili.
Nel 2005 ho iniziato a fare borse e regalarle agli amici. Nel 2006 ho iniziato a vendere le mie borse online, ho aperto il mio primo negozio etsy con il nome del negozio "Veeny's Star" dopo mia nonna Louvenia. Dopo un po' di avanti e indietro sul nome non sentivo davvero che fosse adatto perché sentivo sempre storie sulla madre di mia madre, Addie Mae, e su quanto amava cucire e anche, come me, guardava qualcosa e poteva farlo a memoria insieme ad altri confronti creativi. Fino ad oggi uso ancora il suo cuscino di spillo. Anche se è passata quando ero giovane, mi piace ancora pensare che il ronzio della sua macchina da cucire sia stato ciò che mi ha incoraggiato a iniziare a cucire. Sentivo ancora molto importante incorporare il nome della mamma di mio padre (Louvenia) nel nome della mia attività perché mi sento parte di ciò che sono e di ciò che faccio, è anche da parti di lei.
Nel 2009 è arrivata la mia bellissima figlia e mi ha incoraggiato a lavorare di più ad Addielou in modo che anche lei possa rendersi conto che non devi accontentarti, puoi fare ciò che ami ed è possibile amare lavorare sodo.
Addielou officially started in 2007; if you want a straight-foward answer. I believe that Addielou started way before that. As far back as I can remember I've loved clothing and design. It may have started my first day of kindergarten when my mom bought me this pair of Osh'kosh overalls with yellow trim that I just loved or when I was 6 and my brother and I would make sitcoms with the many toys we got from kid's meals, thrift stores and the toy store and I'd make my Barbie's clothes with scraps of fabric and safety pins.
When I was 15 after designing and hand sewing many skirts, my parents bought me my first sewing machine during a family gift exchange. Then the real fun began! My sewing machine and I became inseparable.
In 2005 I started making handbags and giving them to friends as gifts. In 2006 I started selling my bags online, I opened up my first etsy shop under the shop name "Veeny's Star" after my grandmother Louvenia. After a while of going back and forth about the name I didn't really feel that it was fitting because I would always hear stories about my mom's mother Addie Mae, and how much she loved to sew and also, like me, she'd look at something and could make it from memory along with other creative comparisons. To this day I still use her pincushion. Even though she passed when I was young I still like to think that the hum of her sewing machine was what encouraged me to start sewing. I still felt it very important to incorporate my dad's mom's name (Louvenia) in my business name because I feel part of who I am and what I do, is also from parts of her.
In 2009 my beautiful daughter came along and encouraged me to work harder at Addielou so she too can realize that you don't have to settle, you can do what you love and it is possible to love working hard.
