About

Make the World More Beautiful

I have always loved to create and have always been attracted to color. After starting a family, I found it hard to fit a creative outlet into my daily life, until I picked up knitting. I quickly found myself adapting patterns to make them my own, and eventually started designing and writing knitting patterns.

My shop has become an eclectic collection of hand knits, knitting patterns, and the occasional knitting supply or notion. In January of 2013, I also opened a second Etsy shop, featuring my hand dyed yarn. This "sister" shop can be found at www.frontporchfibers.etsy.com. You can also learn more at www.frontporchknitting.com.

We have a favorite book in our house, called "Miss Rumphius" written by Barbara Cooney. The book is about a girl whose grandfather tells her as a child that one thing she must aspire to do in her life is "make the world more beautiful." This is what I strive to do in my shop with every item I create.

I hope you find something that inspires you, whether it be one of my hand knits, some hand dyed yarn to create your own soft goodness, or a knitting pattern inspired by the beauty in everyday life. Thanks for taking the time to look.

Knitting has been a tradition on both sides of my family for generations. I learned when I was young, then again in college as an Occupational Therapy student. It finally overtook me as an addiction a few years ago when I began creating for my kids.
