I love this adorable pillow! It arrived fast and in great condition. It is the perfect Christmas present for my little cousin who LOVES dinosaurs. She will be so happy, thank you!
Adorkable Illustrated Life
I may not have been the first or the only to do it, but one day I was trying to describe something to someone and I tried to say adorable and dorky at the same time. As you can guess the word vomit (or word magic?) that came out of my mouth was 'adorkable' which I just loved and eventually used for my store name.
When I first started Adorkable Doodles, it was meant to be an extra creative outlet, I was working full-time after graduating with a BFA in Illustration and my job was not fulfilling all of my creative needs. I was bursting with creativity! I also wanted to use my shop as a way of creating a brand for myself in the illustration world and as an extra source of income in a tough economy. I didn't end up listing items until I was laid off and I suddenly had all the time in the world to create and to list new projects. Now I'm working part-time as a graphic designer, freelancing, keeping up Adorkable Doodles (as well as starting up another shop here for creative decor - Heidi's Handmade House) and living as a starving artist, but I'm getting my creativity out into the world!
Here's a little on how I work, I don't have a studio, I do all of my art in my bedroom (usually on my computer desk, sometimes on the floor with newspaper) with music or some television episode on in the background. That extra noise gives me the push I need to concentrate without getting so focused I start jumping when I hear the wind. I usually doodle an idea small for layout and conception and then sketch it bigger in a sort of outline before I commit to the full drawing or painting. And sometimes I skip all that and just start drawing, painting, or working in Adobe products just to see what happens. I take all of my pictures in my bedroom too, during the day so I get the natural light to show the drawings and paintings in the best, most accurate light.
Thanks for reading!
