Sono un'artista orafa autodidatta con oltre 30 anni di esperienza nella creazione di pezzi unici realizzati a mano. Il mio lavoro riflette decenni di esplorazione del design, dell'artigianato e della creatività, e ogni pezzo è realizzato individualmente a mano da me!
I miei gioielli e capi d'abbigliamento sono realizzati con pezzi di seconda mano: gioielli, giocattoli, oggetti d'antiquariato, tessuti vintage e qualsiasi altra cosa interessante che trovo ovunque: mercatini dell'usato, negozi di seconda mano, vendite di oggetti di seconda mano, ecc. Io e mio marito adoriamo viaggiare e fare shopping nei mercatini dell'usato! Questi oggetti potrebbero presentare segni di usura, essere scoloriti, deformati, mancanti di pezzi, rotti, ecc., ma io vedo un enorme potenziale in ciò che gli altri considerano imperfetto. Li riparo, li riutilizzo o li trasformo completamente e poi li assemblo con oggetti nuovi e vecchi per creare un pezzo unico che nessun altro avrà mai: la tua personalissima opera d'arte da indossare! Il mio obiettivo è trovare la bellezza negli oggetti "dimenticati e trascurati" di un tempo. Il prodotto finale è nuovo e mai indossato. Questi pezzi assemblati vengono poi confezionati nella mia confezione originale e spediti a te!
Adorned Crown è nata oltre 30 anni fa sulle spiagge delle Hawaii, dove raccoglievo conchiglie e creavo gioielli che vendevo ai turisti; l'attività è continuata quando mi sono trasferita nel Maine, dove ho imparato a intrecciare minuscole perline creando forme di ogni tipo, come teiere e carote! È lì che ho anche scoperto la mia passione per il crazy quilting e i gioielli realizzati con tecniche miste, creando piccole collane-sacchetto artistiche da indossare. La mia arte si è evoluta nel tempo, proprio come me, e racchiude il mio amore per i colori, le forme e le texture. La mia parola preferita è "giustapposizione: il fatto che due cose vengano viste o poste vicine con un effetto contrastante". Considero l'arte dell'assemblaggio come la creazione e l'unione di pezzi che non erano destinati a stare insieme, ma che ora sembrano inseparabili.

I'm a self-taught jewelry artist with over 30 years of experience creating one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces. My work reflects decades of exploring design, craftsmanship, and creativity, with each piece made individually by hand by me!
Assemblage jewelry and wearable textiles are made using pre-loved pieces of jewelry, toys, artifacts, vintage fabrics, and anything of interest that I find everywhere and anywhere; garage sales, thrift stores, estate sales, etc. My husband and I love to travel and thrift! They might show signs of wear, may be discolored, misshapen, missing pieces, broken, etc. but I see so much potential in what other's see as not perfect. I fix them, repurpose them, or totally change them and then assemble them with new and old items to form a new one-of-a-kind piece that no one else will ever have one of; your very own wearable art! My goal is to find beauty in the “outcasts & unloved” items of yesteryear. The final product is unused and unworn. These assembled pieces are then packaged in my own original packaging and sent to you!
Adorned Crown started over 30 years ago on the beaches of Hawaii, picking up shells and making jewelry which I sold to the tourists; it continued when I moved to Maine where I learned to weave tiny seed beads into all sorts of shapes like teapots and carrots! It is there also that I learned how much I love crazy quilting and mixed media jewelry by making small wearable art pouch necklaces. My art has changed over time just as I have and it encompasses my love of color and shapes and textures. My favorite word is "juxtaposition: the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect." I view assemblage art as making and marrying pieces that weren't ever meant to be together but look as if they can never be apart now.
