Alt/Dark Accessories

Exactly as it says on the label. Alternative. Dark. Mostly accessories and jewelry.

This is a one-person operation. I hunt down all the pieces, make up a design, put it together, pack, sell and ship - all right here at my glue-covered, cramped, overcrowded desk. I have bins of beads and findings, the jump rings live in round containers stacked up on an old CD spindle next to the bead spinner, little drawers full of tools like beading needles and scissors. I've lost more seed beads into this carpet than will ever be recovered. I am very organized just doesn't look like it.

I am forever seeing jewelry I'd like, but...there always seems to be a catch, something that I'd like better if it was just a little different. So, in need of a hobby/job, I've set out to make interesting jewelry pieces for everyday and some fancier things too. Pieces I'd want to wear (and I do often make things for myself).

Silver and Black. Gunmetal. Iridescence, Aurora Borealis (AB) coatings. Things that look like an oil spill on wet pavement, without being a real oil spill. Baroque, Rococo, Art Nouveau, Art Deco. Alternative, Dark, Alt, Goth. Sometimes simple, sometimes intricate, always a little different.

The bat? I call him Baron von Munch. Say hello to the logo when you see him.

Agathion? There's a couple of appropriate sources for the name. It's the center of the Plane of Pandemonium in D&D, a place full of caverns and darkness and who knows what? In other realms, an agathion is a summoned familiar who appears at midday (and I do have a habit of sleeping late).

I'm a jewelry maker with an online shop. I like things dark, black, and maybe even a little depressing sometimes. And bats, obviously. Maybe I'm a little weird but there's no such thing as normal.

Shop policies

Hi there. This shop specializes in alt/dark jewelry and accessories. What's that mean? Expect lots of black, dark colors, silver and gunmetal finishes. Interesting pieces with a little less brightness. Alternative jewelry.

Please ask about custom orders. I can customize the designs already available in my shop or work with you to create something unique. I'm happy to accept variations on existing listings for color or length, or to try and re-create a sold out item you've fallen for.

This is a one person operation. I make all the jewelry, do all the sourcing, listing, shipping, photography - you name it. I try to make things I love, to keep my shop stocked with things a little different, and to share my style.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns
Contact me within: 7 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 14 days of delivery
I don't accept exchanges or cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
In case of damage upon arrival or during the shipping process, I may be able to repair an item (not necessarily always!) but will be happy to consult - please send me a convo with any concerns. Pictures are helpful for determining if a problem is fixable.

Because many of my items are one of a kind, I may not be able to offer a replacement. In this case, please convo me with details and I will offer a refund for shipping damages. Please get in touch ASAP after delivery in case of a damaged item. Please also read up on the insurance things below.

If your item isn't quite what you expected upon arrival, please get in contact and I'll see what I can do to make it right. If a return is necessary, the buyer is responsible for all shipping charges - I will refund the original purchase price, not including shipping.

If your package does not arrive, again, please get in contact so that I can take care of it and begin contacting the insurer. If it seems to be taking too long, convo me.
Accepting both Direct Checkout and Paypal, as well as Etsy gift cards.

Some custom orders may require payment up front, while others will require a percentage of the estimated total as a deposit to be paid up front (usually for materials) with the remainder due upon completion of work and prior to shipping. Deposits are not refundable. Details will be worked out via Etsy convo.
Please be sure the address you have listed with Etsy at time of payment is correct. This is the address I will ship to, unless you have contacted me at or prior to the time of purchase. In the case of an incorrect address, the buyer will be responsible for any additional shipping charges.

I ship via USPS. Default shipping is via first class mail (or first class international). This includes tracking aka delivery confirmation within the United States and other countries where available. I offer an upgrade to Priority shipping for customers in the US. To find out which countries tracking is available for, please see this etsy help article: under "Is delivery confirmation available?"

I ship out as soon as I am able to, generally 1-2 days after you have paid, not including weekends. First Class delivery estimates 2-5 days after mailing in the US, generally pretty quick. Priority upgrades shorten the estimate to 1-3 days. International delivery will obviously take longer due to distance, possibility of customs, etc.

I ship in small bubble mailers, just the right size for jewelry items. For multiple-item purchases, I will ship in a slightly larger bubble mailer.

International buyers (outside the United States): I am happy to ship to you, as long as your country's customs will allow jewelry in - some do not! I ship USPS first class international - if you require faster service send a convo before purchasing. Please be aware that your item may be held at customs for inspection, delaying the delivery time, and you may be charged a customs fee or import tax or similar. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about customs clearance - customs laws make the importer (the buyer - you!) responsible for these fees. Sometimes the USPS tracking on international packages doesn't update much while in-transit, but it is one certain way to know that I have sent your things out.

I insure first class packages sent to most places! This includes international shipments. Upgrades to Priority shipping automatically include insurance coverage through USPS. For more information on insurance please see the insurer's information here:

In case of damage on arrival please hang on to all the packaging! Please see for more details.

The insurer gives these time frames for lost packages: 20 days for domestic, 40 days international. Claims for damage can be filed immediately, no need to wait to contact me for those. The insurer will ask for buyers to fill out a form confirming loss or damage, but I will do most of the contact with them.
Additional policies and FAQs
Allergy warning! I do have a cat. He is not allowed in my work space, and all completed and for-sale items are stored carefully for cleanliness and protection, but a cat is present. FYI. This also seems like a good time to note: non-smoking environment.

All jewelry is shipped with a black drawstring jewelry bag - sheer organza in front, so you can see what's inside, and a solid velvety back.

I usually do NOT include a receipt or packing slip of any kind. If you would like one, please send a convo or leave a note when placing your order.

Again, I do take custom orders. Use the "request a custom order" button or send a convo to get started. Feel free to inquire about changes in length or color, or new and original one-of-a-kind designs. I will respond via convo with a quote, to be approved by the buyer, before beginning any custom work. Custom pieces may require partial or full payment up front.
