Very cute bag, perfect size, and great as a pencil/pen or on-the-go makeup bag!
Inspired by fabric and linked by common threads.
After having been on hiatus from sewing for more than ten years, I hinted to my husband for a sewing machine for Christmas in 2009. As someone who is great at paying attention to such hints he obliged and I was thrilled to once again have a machine. However, said machine then sat, and sat, and sat! It sat, in its box, unopened, for almost a year but then on a random evening after a day at my office job it was time to break it out and thread the needle.
After sewing up a few purses for family and friends I decided it might be nice to sell the odd creation to support my new found addiction to purchasing fabrics and, with that, Agnes Ellen was born. I had my first sale to a local Edmontonian which was such an awesome way to kick start the journey of my little shop and I've since sold purses to people across Canada, the United States and Australia.
Somewhere along the way a very dear friend had her first baby and so began my trip down the rabbit hole of quilting. My fabric buying addiction has been further fuelled by the amazing and varied quilting cottons of the world.
My style when it comes to making purses is still a little erratic. You'll see as many purses in floral or geometric patterned fabric as in solid colours and there's usually a mix of shoulder bags, clutches and zippered pouches or wallets in the shop at any given time. Most recently I've been carrying over the use of appliqué in my quilts to my purse work and I'm loving the results!
When it comes to quilts I suppose I'm just as varied. I do have one cohesive 'line' of quilts that I refer to as Modern Solids. These are a simple yet stylish whole-cloth design quilt featuring two solid coloured fabrics and a coordinating patterned fabric that I create appliqué pieces with as well as use for the quilt binding (ie, edging). I love these quilts for their simple and modern aesthetic. They're also the perfect backdrop for customization so feel free to contact me any time to discuss your ideas.
As well as the whole-cloth quilts, I also create one-of-a-kind patchwork quilts and spend countless hours "auditioning" groupings of fabric to start a new project with.
From quilts I've continued to expand my offerings to cozy flannelette blankets (great for babies and toddlers), toddler duvet covers and matching pillowcases and various types of baby toys.
