Welcome to the world of one-of-a-kind artist teddies!

To the family of Alba Bears belong, besides teddies in all sizes and colours, also cats and rabbits, all made of only best quality mohair fabric (mostly Schulte), partially or entirely hand-sewn. They normally have five joints (legs, arms and head) and German glass eyes. All my creations are stuffed with hygienic polyfill. They are made in many hours of work with lots of love!
So you really get something special, something unique!

As I buy only small amounts of fabrics, I can make most teddies and other creatures only once. They are really OOAK. But if your favourite is bought by someone else, please ask - I try my best to make a similar item.

If you like to have a custom bear (special outfit etc.) or prefer a certain design in a different colour, just let me know.

Please be informed that these creations are not suitable as children's toys, unless stated otherwise. Years ago, teddy bears that were made in the same way, of the same materials, used to be suitable for children. These toys were much appreciated and loved for many generations. Today's standards for children's toys are different. They have to be safe, without any small parts that could be choked, and they have to washable. I used to have such a teddy, and we shared a wonderful childhood. If you would like to give one of my teddies to your child, it's up to you. But I declare hereby that I assume no responsibilities for any damage caused by one of my items.

All my creations come from a smoke-free and pet-free home (the only pets are my teddies...)

And one last word: Please understand that I am a mother and housewife and that sometimes it takes, also due to different time zones, several hours before I can answer convos etc. Your understanding is much appreciated!

Returns and exchanges
Please understand that sales are final and I am unable to accept returns.

Not only would it be far too complicated to take one of my items back. I think it is a certain bearing towards all things hand-crafted, as probably all crafters will understand. There are several pictures to help you make your decision to buy an item. If you need more, let me know. These pictures are not modified or revised in any way. I guarantee you, what you see is what you get.

You surely understand that I'm not responsible for uninsured shipments once they are handed over to the postal services. Therefore, in the case of loss or damage, I cannot refund your money nor can I send another item at my own expense.
Payment is by Paypal only and has to be made within 3 days of purchase.
I do International shipping, of course!

The ordered item will be posted only after payment has been cleared, and I go (due to mother guilt) to the post office only twice a week (tuesday and friday).

I have been an experienced Etsyian (under a different name) for a time long enough to know that shipping rates are sometimes exorbitantly high. The shipping costs for a medium size teddy within Switzerland are about $8. Of course, international shipping fees are even higher.
I will try to find the cheapest and best way for my customers.

$18 are the ECONOMY shipping costs for a small or medium teddy bear (ships within 7-15 days to USA) and INCLUDES INSURANCE and "TRACK & TRACE". I highly recommend this. I will e-mail you your tracking number and the link, so that you can see where your item is. You will have to sign when you receive your package. If you don't need "Track & Trace", it costs $5 less. You can let me know when you check out, the amount of $5 will be refunded by Paypal.
In any case, please don't forget: I don't want to get rich on shipping fees. I know very well how annoying it is to pay that much for shipping.

Please remind that there might be some additional costs due to taxes etc. I am not responsible for those. They have to be paid by the buyer.

Please read "Refunds and Exchanges" as well!

FAQ - Care Instructions

No. Mohair is a very delicate material, and the way the whole teddy bear is done, it can't be put in water. The stuffing would soak up all humidity immediately and get entirely wet. The joints are made of a very hard thick card-stock that is not water-resistant. As in old times, these creations are not suitable for hand- or machine-washing. However, if your teddy gets stained, just wipe it off with a slightly wet clean cloth. And, as in old times as well, treat your teddy carefully.

Mohair is a natural fiber. Like human hair, it can be put in shape. Just moisten your palms with clean water and gently stroke the fur in the right direction. You can also gently use a clean plastic or horn comb or your fingers to re-shape the hair. Don't tear, otherwise the hairs will fall out!

No - and yes. I have to say "NO", as theses teddies don't correspond to safety specifications that are applied today for most kind of children's toys. Smaller parts, i.e. eyes, ears, can be ripped off and swallowed. There's the risk of choking. On the other hand, these small parts are securely sewn in place, and it needs a certain vigour to tear these parts away. Not so long ago, such teddies were common as children's toys. For nearly a century, teddies like the Alba Bears creations, were the children's most loved companions. My daughter will have a teddy I make for her, when she is old enough, and I only have to make sure she doesn't make it dirty.

Yes, but be aware of moths, and don't forget that full sun-light has a bleaching effect...
