Shutter Bug and Fiber Freak
We are a husband and wife team of Fiber and Art. Melisa learned how to hand spin and weave in Aberdeenshire, Scotland where Charlie was born and where they lived for the first 6 years of their marriage. they came west to Colorado and their ranch tract of undeveloped land to start homesteading. Recently they have moved the entire Alba Ranch to MI only 5 miles from Lake Michigan. What a pallet of colors and various fun growing things to see for inspiration in the dye pot!
Melisa hand spins yarns in all sorts of fibers and weights and is a mad scientist dyer. She paint the dyes on the yarn and fiber with the same passion she used to reserve for her oil painting. It it so much fun creating and painting, her new medium is now fiber instead of a canvas. She is really starting to reach and grown with her wearables and will start making more jackets, coats, shawls and skirt. Keep on the look out for more of those. She is at her most happy when surrounded by fiber with lots of color and texture.
Charlie has been painting and doing photography for most of his life. His day job has him traveling all over the world in many countries seeing many things others can only dream of. He tries to have his camera and paint brush at the ready at all times to never miss THAT shot!
All of their items are individually created so there are no two alike. Even if there are multiples of a hand painted yarn skein, they will work together but still be individual and slightly different in each color vat and dye lot.
