Absolutely stunning. Ales was so easy to work with and created a one of a kind piece for me. I can't say enough great things!

Wonderful piece that I bought as an anniversary gift for my husband! I happened to be stumbling around on the internet looking for gifts when I came across his blog which led me to the etsy page. Responds quickly, very friendly to work with! The price is amazing for the quality of work he does! Seriously if you think the pieces are beautiful online then wait until you see the item in person! Highly recommend sending a message if you don't see what you're looking for on the store page! Will definitely be purchasing from this artist again!
Whimsical creations, hand carved on PEI
I've been told by many people to start selling my carvings. I've been doing this craft only since late 2010 so considering the feedback on my work from professional craftsmen and artists I decided to take up that step.
So here I am, a Czech guy - after almost 16 years working as a chef in 4 different countries, I am a wood carver living in Canada :)
My favourite material to use is cottonwood bark, I just like that the bark comes from dead trees and creates once again something so beautiful and whimsical. I occasionally do carvings out of driftwood for the same reason but I find driftwood too time consuming and hard on knives to be able to sell these products for reasonable price. That is why I am not putting any of these in my Etsy shop. I enjoy chip carving though these pieces are the best suited for a commissioned work so when it comes to my Etsy shop, I want to concentrate on my one of a kind whimsical houses and other original creations.
I don't use any power tools, everything is done with knives and gouges. I like a smooth surface on finished products so I use quite a bit of sand paper in the end. In spring of 2013 I learnt how to finish my carvings with a Greenguard certified water based lacquer which made me very, very satisfied when it comes to the very last step of the work. This finish doesn't change the natural colour of any wood I've been using so far and yet it is very hard and durable.
Thank You for stopping by and feel free to let me know if You have any questions. And if You ever want a very special gift for somebody, keep me in the back of Your mind.

If any other shipping method is preferred (faster delivery), I can check the price for it and add it to the order if needed. Note that the delivery days (mostly for Canada) greatly depend on the final destination.
I put 1-3 business days dispatch time but all my orders are shipped latest the next business day.under normal circumstances I am trying to ship the order the very next day after receiving it.
Customs charges may apply while shipping outside Canada. I have no control over those.
For packaging I use recycled boxes, paper, etc. I am a bit better at carving than at packaging when it comes to the aesthetic look :) But I make sure the carving is safe and won't break on the way, I am very proud of my carvings and just the idea that something would happen while shipping bothers me - so You can be sure Your order will be packaged very securely.
