Minha história... simples e simples
My story...plain and simple

Hi there, I’m Katie!
In May 2013 I graduated from University of Charleston with a degree in Interior Design. A week later, I married my Liverpudlian college sweetheart. He had just signed with the professional soccer team in my hometown, Pittsburgh. We scored an adorable apartment on top of Mt. Washington & felt like we were really “Adulting It”.
However, after a few months of being unable to find a design job in Pittsburgh that allowed me to fulfill my desire to use my creativity & help others, I was starting to feel totally lost. My professors had warned me that Pittsburgh may not have many career opportunities in design for a creative mind that can't stick to coloring in the lines. BUT, I really believe you have to make the best out of your situation. Maybe it sounds cheesy, but our situation was trying to make ends meet while chasing our dreams. If we were going to make it work, I was going to have to create my own ideal job.
As a kid, I spent weekend mornings with my parents at garage sales & flea markets. I developed an eye for the beauty & value of vintage items & found myself buying oil paintings, rotary telephones, antique jewelry, & peacock chairs. I loved hunting for these treasures, & incorporating them into modern designs & outfits. Our tiny apartment was crammed, but full of character, from my flea market collection. I realized that others might share my love for giving vintage items new life. After doing a little research on Etsy, I borrowed my brother’s camera, rigged some ikea lamps & a wrinkled sheet, & despite a nasty sunburn ⸺Aligras Vintage was born!
So here we are 4 years later, now living in Arlington, Virginia. Rob plays soccer for DC & I continue to fill my shop with vintage goodies for you! Things always have a funny way of working out. I am never really sure where I am going, or what I am doing; but I know it will all be worth it in the end if I'm doing what I love.
