Mijn winkel begon toen ik besloot om een ketting te maken van oude kleding. Ik had die dag niet veel ander knutselmateriaal om mee te werken, dus besloot ik out of the box te denken. Ik had geen plan of idee hoe het eruit zou gaan zien. Ik improviseerde en verkende de verschillende texturen van de verscheidenheid aan stoffen. Sommige stoffen hadden meer rek, andere delen hadden meer verfraaide accenten. Het materiaal en de combinaties van kleuren en patronen spraken me aan. Het was leuk om het oude materiaal wakker te schudden in iets nieuws. Toen ik klaar was, heb ik uiteindelijk een dikke sjaalachtige ketting gemaakt. Ik droeg het elke dag en kreeg veel complimenten omdat het iets was dat niemand ooit eerder heeft gezien. Ik heb toen besloten om er meer te maken. Mijn doel was om echt unieke stukken te maken die je niet kunt repliceren. Ik dacht altijd dat het alles zoveel specialer maakte. Ik begon andere oude of ongebruikte materialen dan kleding in mijn stukken te verwerken en alles begon echt uit te breiden. Vrienden doneerden zelfs kapotte handtassen, sokken met gaten erin, een kussensloop die niet gerepareerd kon worden, noem maar op. En dat was het begin van mijn upcycled sieradenlijn die voortdurend in ontwikkeling is. Het is momenteel in een fase waarin ik edelstenen, gereconstrueerde kostuumjuwelen, elk materiaal dat ik door de natuur laat inspireren en een ton ander textiel opneem.

My shop started when I decided to make a necklace out of old clothing. I didn't have a lot of other crafty material to work with that day, so I decided to think outside of the box. I didn't have a plan or idea of how it was going to look. I improvised and explored the different textures of the variety of fabrics. Some fabric had more stretch, other parts had more embellished accents. The material and combinations of colors and patterns spoke to me. It was fun to awaken the old material into something new. Once I was finished I ended up creating a chunky scarf looking necklace. I wore it everyday and received a lot of compliments because it was something no one has ever seen before. I then decided to make more. My goal was to really make one of a kind pieces that you can't replicate. I always thought it made everything that much more special. I started to incorporate other old or unused materials other than clothing into my pieces and everything really started to expand. Friends would even donate broken hand bags, socks with holes in them, a pillow case that couldn't be fixed, you name it. And that was the start of my upcycled jewelry line that has been constantly evolving. It is currently at a stage where I incorporate gemstones, reconstructed costume jewelry, any material that I am inspired by nature, and a ton different textiles.
