Erin was amazing! She worked with me to make a custom necklace for my wedding, as well as several pieces for friends and family members. The jewelry was high quality, very solid (not flimsy at all) and most of all gorgeous! The shop had a lot of options for pieces of glass which was wonderful. Erin was great to work with - very nice, professional, and got my order done fast! Cannot say enough good things about this shop! :-)

Hobbyist turned small business owner

My shop name, The Jewelry Block, is a tip-of-the-hat to some great childhood memories. For years my family visited Block Island, RI, during the summer. We would bike the island and walk along beaches collecting sea glass. That sea glass was the first that I turned into jewelry. In high school I wrapped pieces of the sea glass with wire and presented my mother with a touching but fragile sea glass necklace. Years later, after I started my business, I re-made that necklace for her. It is still one of my favorite pieces, and it is now sturdy enough to last for years.

Block Island is also where I found my first inspiration to make jewelry.

During the day (and some nights and weekends), I work for a non-profit organization in New Hampshire. I love what I do, but my dream would be to build on my jewelry-making to turn it into a full-time business.

SALES TAX:
Since I live in lovely sales tax-free New Hampshire, there is no sales tax on items purchased through my shop.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:
I accept the following payments through my shop:

Shipping
SHIPPING ADDRESS:
*Please* double check your shipping address before submitting your order. For orders paid with a credit card or PayPal, I am required to ship to the address provided with your payment. If that does not match your Etsy shipping address, your order may end up in the wrong place. If an order goes to the wrong address because of such a discrepancy and it cannot be recovered, no refund will be possible. If the order is recovered, additional shipping charges will apply to re-send the item to your correct address.

I will take responsibility for any errors on my part, including refunding and/or replacing items.

HANDLING:
Unless otherwise noted in my shop announcement or in a listing, all pre-made orders will be shipped within 1-3 business days of receiving payment. Custom orders can take up to 10 business days, though I try to complete them faster. Once the shipping label is prepared Etsy will email you with any relevant tracking information. If there is an unexpected delay with your order, I will contact you by email and you will have the option of receiving a full refund if the time frame does not fit your needs.

If you would like to request alternate shipping methods to the ones detailed below, I am happy to explore the cost of the method you would prefer. Please contact me *before* you purchase your items to arrange for special shipping - any additional shipping charges will be added to the item's shipping cost before purchase.

ARE YOU IN A HURRY?
If you need your order rushed, please contact me before placing your order. I can investigate the cost of faster shipping, and I will adjust the cost for you prior to purchase. I can also provide an estimated time frame for rush custom orders.

Please also know that I truly *cannot* guarantee delivery by a specific date. I have no control or influence over the US Postal Service or any other shipping company. All I can do is provide the estimated arrival date provided by the shipping company.

SHIPPING WITHIN THE US:
Domestic orders within the US have two shipping options: USPS First Class Parcel or USPS Priority Mail. Both of these options include a tracking number. Packages are not always scanned at every stop by the post office, but this helps to keep track of your purchases until they reach your door.

If you choose USPS First Class and the weight of your order is more than 13 ounces (the limit for First Class Parcel), then I will ship using USPS Parcel Post.

SHIPPING OUTSIDE THE US:
I send all international orders via USPS First Class International. This is the most cost effective shipping method, and in many cases tracking is limited. Shipping methods that include in-depth tracking are *much* more expensive than most customers prefer, so I have selected First Class International to keep the cost as low as possible. If you would like to request a different shipping method, contact me and I can look into the rates for you.

First Class International can take anywhere between 2 weeks to 6 weeks to arrive, depending on your location and the speed of your country's postal service.

SHIPPING RATES:
My shipping rates take into account the postage cost, a bubble mailer or envelope, packaging to protect your order during shipping, and labor/time to carefully wrap, label, and deliver each order to the post office.

COUNTRY RESTRICTIONS:
Some countries restrict what items can be mailed into the country. If you are unsure of your country's restrictions, please do some research before placing your order. If I am aware of a restriction within your country related to an item you have purchased, I will contact you before I cancel your order and provide a full refund. If I am not aware that your country restricts an item, and the order comes back to me after an attempt at shipping, I will refund the item cost only - not the shipping cost. There are too many restrictions for me to be able to track them, so I cannot take on the cost for shipping attempts that are blocked by Customs Offices.

CUSTOMS & DUTY FEES:
The customer is responsible for paying any additional customs fees or taxes for your purchases. Please investigate your country's laws before making a purchase if you are not sure. Items returned to me because the buyer refused to pay additional taxes or fees will be handled on a case-by-case basis, but in no case will the shipping cost be refunded.
Refunds and Exchanges
GENERAL POLICIES:
If an item you purchased turns out to be not quite what you were looking for, please contact me within 4 days of receiving the item. The receipt date will be determined by the package tracking number provided by the US Postal Service (or whichever mailing service was purchased). Whether you need to return an item or exchange it for another, I will do everything I can to make the experience a pleasant one!

Items must be returned in their original packaging, unworn and unused.

CUSTOM ORDERS
Returns or exchanges of custom ordered items will be handled case by case. If I can list your custom ordered item in my shop for the general public to purchase, I will accept your return or exchange. If your item is specific enough that it would not appeal to the general public, a return or exchange may not be possible.

Example: a necklace with a sea glass pendant would appeal to a wide customer base and so a return would likely be accepted. A ring with your birth date stamped into it would not appeal to a wide customer base and so a return would likely not be possible.

EARRINGS:
For hygiene reasons, earrings that are returned or exchanged will only receive partial refund or credit since I will need to replace the sterling silver ear wires. The only exception is in the case of damage during shipping, in which case I will replace the damaged items (see below for details). If you have any questions before you purchase any earrings from my shop, please do not hesitate to contact me.

RETURNS:
I will refund the item cost of the returned item(s) once I receive the item(s) back in the mail. The customer is responsible for paying for shipping to return the item. The original shipping cost of an order is non-refundable.

EXCHANGES:
I will credit the item cost of the returned item(s) toward your exchange, and if the new order costs less than the original, I will refund you the difference. New shipping charges do apply for the new item you will receive, and the customer is responsible for paying for shipping to return the items. The original shipping cost of an order is non-refundable.

ITEMS DAMAGED IN SHIPPING:
I always hope for the best but try to plan for the worst when it comes to shipping. Though I package every order carefully to protect your purchase through rough handling, accidents can happen and items can be damaged in transit. Neither you nor I can control this, but I will assume responsibility for replacing or refunding your order in these situations. If your order was damaged in shipping, contact me with a photo of the item and damaged package before shipping it back to me. A photo proving the damage to the item is required for any refund related to the damage. Whether you opt to return or exchange the item, I will credit you the full item cost, your original shipping cost, and the cost to ship the damaged item back to me when you include your shipping receipt with the item. Damaged items must be returned to me in order to qualify for a refund or exchange, and a receipt for the shipping cost must be included to receive a credit for that amount.

PHOTOGRAPHS:
I do my best to describe an item as accurately as possible. Sea glass, shells and gemstones all have unique shapes and qualities, so except in cases specified in the description, all stones shown in a listing are the exact one(s) you will receive.

For necklaces, the chain you receive may differ from the one in the photograph, but will always be of the material stated.

CAN YOU RECREATE A SOLD ITEM?
Possibly! I cannot always recreate pieces that I have made in the past due to the unique qualities of some items, but if you like one of my sold pieces, I may be able to replicate it for you or design something unique for you that is inspired by a sold item.

CUSTOM DESIGN REQUESTS:
If you have an idea of a specific piece you are looking for, or slight changes to an item already listed in my shop, send me a message. I am happy to work with you to design something special.

MATCHING ITEMS:
I can sometimes create matching necklaces, bracelets, earrings, or other items to go with my pieces listed for sale. If you would like to consider a matching set, contact me with as many details as possible. I will send photos of newly created matching items before you purchase so you can see the finished product(s).

CHILD SAFETY WARNING:
My jewelry is not intended for children, and while I make every attempt to avoid materials that contain lead and other hazardous materials, I cannot guarantee that they are 100% lead free. Small items may be a choking hazard for small children, so please take care with the storage of these pieces.
