This mug arrived promptly and safely packed, and just like the others ordered from this seller, is a solid, well-proportioned mug in a beautiful new color pattern. It was wonderful working with the seller to make this custom order possible.

About

Allison Glick Ceramics - Functional Porcelain Pottery and Gift Items

I have been exhibiting and selling my work at arts and crafts festivals in the Boston area since 2011. My mother Sheryl and I opened our Etsy shop in January of 2014 so that we would be able to connect with buyers in a larger geographical area.

My process: I throw each pot on the wheel using high-quality porcelain clay. When the clay is partially dry, I trim the bottom, making a rounded “foot ring”, sign each piece with my maker’s mark, and alter the piece as needed. The pots are then bisque fired in my electric kiln. After the first firing I hand paint the patterning using underglazes. The pattern is set into the piece by a second firing. I lightly sand the piece before I apply the glazes. My glazes are mixed from scratch using non-leaded ingredients. The final firing reaches 2,232°F, ensuring that the pot is less than 1% porous, and therefore safe for use with liquids/food and can be used in microwaves and dishwashers. I take extreme care in sanding and polishing the bottom of each piece, so that it is smooth and comfortable to the touch and will not scratch any surfaces.

We welcome all inquiries. Thank you for visiting our shop. Allison and Sheryl

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find information on payment options, shipping, gift packaging, returns and other policies?

Detailed information is available in our policies section, which follows the listing description and customer feedback. There is a "+ more" prompt to read the full text. Please write to us if you have any additional questions. Thank you.

Can I find a more detailed description of how Allison makes the pottery?

Visit our about page by clicking the "learn more about the shop and process" link above Allison's picture for photos and a full description the process of making a piece of wheel thrown pottery.

How precise are the measurements that are included in the listing descriptions?

We round to the nearest 1/4". Most often we round down, therefore, a piece is more likely to be up to 1/8" larger then the description then smaller.
