About

One Day at a Time...

When I was a little girl I knew from the start I wanted to make jewelry. I can remember sitting for hours putting plastic beads and buttons on string to make "necklaces" for my mom and babysitters. As I grew older the beads became clay and glass pieces I incorporated into hemp macramé. Shortly thereafter, I learned how to wire wrap, which served as my introduction to working with metal, and I was hooked. In high school I took a metalsmithing class and it was here I learned how to use the material I found so captivating in a whole new way: with a torch. I could melt it, I could solder it, I could forge it; the possibilities were endless and I felt as though I had fallen in love.

After an awesome apprenticeship and putting myself through jewelry school, I went to work as a bench jeweler sizing rings, fixing chains, setting stones, etc. I spent every day working on jewelry, and although I was happy, I was unfulfilled. I wanted to get back to creating pieces, not just fixing them.

Fast forward through several years of exploration, trial, and error to 2012, when Alloyed Earth Jewelry was manifested. My company is based on the eastern shore of Maryland's Chesapeake Bay, which has allowed me to pair my love for metal with my love of nature quite seamlessly. Much of my inspiration (and some of my material) comes from local resources, and I enjoy being able to go for a hike in the woods or a walk on the beach to renew my creative energies.

Today, the mission of Alloyed Earth is to create designs and products that appeal to a variety of people, with each piece as unique as the individual who chooses it. Whether it's a fun accessory or something to last a lifetime, I believe jewelry is a very personal way to make a statement about who you are and what you want to share about yourself with others. I also believe in supporting small business, and Etsy has provided me a great platform in order to share this part of myself with you.

Please don't hesitate to send me a message with any questions or comments. Custom work is always a possibility and I love bringing people's ideas to life! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and what my shop is about; I hope you find something to fall in love with!
