Bienvenue chez Amelia J’s Crafting - Je suis Sam et je suis basé à North Dorset.
Jusqu’à présent, j’ai travaillé dans la publicité pendant 20 ans, puis les 20 dernières années dans l’éducation. Récemment, j’ai pris la décision de changer de direction et de suivre mes rêves...
J’ai toujours aimé coudre et cela a commencé quand j’étais à l’école. Nous n’avions pas les moyens d’acheter beaucoup de vêtements, alors j’ai fabriqué les miens... en particulier les combinaisons pour lesquelles j’étais bien connu dans les années 1980 !! Le tissu était beaucoup moins cher et il n’y avait pas les magasins de vêtements moins chers à l’époque.
Par la suite, j’avais l’habitude de confectionner des vêtements pour mes enfants, mais une vie bien remplie de famille et de travail à temps plein a pris le dessus, alors la machine à coudre est entrée en hibernation.
J’ai beaucoup de chance d’avoir ma propre salle d’artisanat / studio à la maison et cela me permet d’expérimenter de nombreux métiers (récemment, j’ai suivi un cours de feutrage). Je ne peux pas dire que tous réussissent, mais j’aime essayer - j’ai trouvé le crochet très difficile pour une raison quelconque!
Maintenant, j’ai franchi le pas et me suis lancé dans ma propre entreprise pour englober mon amour du tissu et de l’artisanat - Amelia Js Bunting.
Les gens me demandent pourquoi il ne porte pas mon nom et la réponse est simple...., ma défunte mère adorait bruer dans toutes ses chambres ainsi que d’être elle-même artisane (plus de point de croix, de broderie / couture). Son deuxième prénom était Amelia et le prénom de sa mère était aussi celui-là, donc c’est en son honneur pour eux deux.
Il s’agira principalement de projets de bruants et de tissus faits à la main, mais il y aura aussi d’autres objets d’artisanat, y compris des bijoux.
Le site Web est un travail en cours et un autre processus d’apprentissage!

Welcome to Amelia J's Crafting - I am Sam and based in North Dorset.
Up to now I worked in advertising for 20 years and then the last 20 years in education. Recently, I made the decision to change direction and follow my dreams...
I have always loved sewing and this started when I was at school. We couldn't afford lots of clothing so I made my own...particularly jumpsuits which I was well known for in the 1980s!! Fabric was much cheaper and there weren't the cheaper clothing shops around then.
Following this, I used to make my childrens clothing but a busy life of family and full time work took over, so the sewing machine went into hibernation.
I am very lucky to have my own craft room / studio at home and this enables me to experiment with many crafts (recently I went on a felting course). I can't say all are successful but I like to have a try - I found crocheting very difficult for some reason!
Now, I have taken the plunge and embarked on my own business to encompass my love of fabric & crafts - Amelia Js Bunting.
People ask me why its not named after me and the answer is simple....,my late mum loved bunting in all her rooms as well as being a crafter herself (more cross stitch, embroidery / sewing). Her middle name was Amelia and her mums first name was that too so this is in her honor of them both.
Primarily this will be handmade bunting and fabric projects but there will be other crafts too including jewellery.
The website is a work in progress and another learning process!
