Announcement    *IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!* The default setting for prints is no longer matted! GASP! (Though there WILL be a listing with the option to mat, don't worry). Why did this happen? Because 1) A lot of people actually preferred them unmatted, and 2) I've wanted to upgrade to eco friendly shipping materials for a loooong time (compostable plastics, tape, and mailers), but I also want to keep things affordable. . . and I THINK this will work! The money saved from matting is all going into NOT destroying the environment, WOOHOO! Thank you <3

Hamadryads and Heartbeets

I’m a fantasy artist working in Rockport, Massachusetts- yes, the home of Motif 1, the famous red fish shack. I did my local artist duty and painted it once, but. . . I added the Kraken ripping it apart, so I’m not sure it counts. Whoops?

A lot of my work is completely out of my head. I don’t want to say made up, since I know that these creatures exist- they skulk at the edges of our consciousness, skirting our waking moments, gold eyes gleaming and white teeth flashing. Next time you’re in the woods. . .look around you. Look closer.

The rest of my work is inspired by mythology and folklore, especially the legends of the Celts, the Ancient Egyptians, and the Ancient Greeks. Really, though, I love all the stories-

Tales of magic and strange creatures? Yup.

Strong women? Definitely.

Antlers?

. . . I don’t think I got my antler obsession from any particular mythic cycle, I think that’s just me.

I have two modes: Mythic and Thoughtful (Antlers), and Crabcake.

It might seem odd that I bounce between serious fantasy art and silly animal greeting cards, but they’re all painted with love and joy, so it makes a strange kind of sense to me. There’s something deliciously sublime about watercolor, its touch, scent, and feel. It was the first medium I tried when I was little, and every time I put brush to paper, my heart aches with nostalgia.

And so I lurk in my studio by the sea on the New England coast, painting both rogue fae and guineapig-erinas with wild abandon.
