Fantastic craftsmanship and customer service. What a beautiful prayer piece. This rosary is an almost exact replica of those used by the Missionaries of Charity (Saint Mother Teresa's sisters) and it is beautiful. I am very grateful to the craftsman who were able to create this custom piece for me. Many many thanks.

About

Why We Do What We Do

I have always loved making things. From Legos when I was little to drawing and cooking when I was older...ok I still love Legos too.
Though I was raised Protestant, my family has a long history in the Roman Catholic Church, and as got more interested in history and theology I began to be interested in the traditions of the Church of Rome. One thing that struck me early on in my study was the Rosary. So beautiful, so reverential, so ancient.
From there, I began to look at other, Christian, prayer bead traditions, seeing if there was one that I could use as a devotional myself. Enter the Pater Noster. This ancient prayer rope, centered around The Lord's Prayer (Pater Noster means "Our Father" in Latin), seemed like an awesome way to get into prayer beads without the theological discrepencies I had with parts of the Catholic and Orthodox doctrines.
From there, I was pleased to find "The Jesus Prayer Rosary" By Father Michael Cleary (UK). Fr. Cleary took the ancient "Jesus Prayer" of the Eastern Orthodox Church and transposed it into a devotion centered on the events in the life of Christ using the traditional, Dominican Rosary as a base, using those same beads. This is still the basis for most of my beads devotions. I heartily recommend this book to Christians of all denominations.
Now, Etsy. Being a proud husband and father of two (currently 2yo and 8mo) I am always on the look out for a way to better support my family, financially. I was excited by the prospect of being able to make and sell prayer beads as it would be a fun way to make a bit extra here and there. All of my Pater Nosters and Rosaries are handmade. I do all the chain work, twisting and cutting it by hand (with the exception of some of the "pater bead" links (the links around the larger beads). I often stock my bead inventory by finding old necklaces at second-hand shops and using them in my prayer bead creations.
I hope you find joy in the products for sale here. Each is unique and crafted to be beautiful to see. May your purchase bless you and your walk in Christ.

Sincerely,
Jacob Giese, Shop Artist and Purveyor
