Vintage and such
I inherited a number of vintage items some going back to the 1870s. While I am not willing to part with many of my family heirlooms, I do have some to share. Many items came from my family in Kentucky. My great-grandparents married in the shortly after the Civil War. My maternal grandparents met in Eastern Kentucky when both were in college. My grandfather's ordination with the Church of Christ occurred in 1938. My mother was born a couple of years later while they were living in Harlan County. My grandfather's ministry took them to the midwest including Nebraska and Illinois and finally back to Kentucky.
My father's family came from Hungary and escaped the country after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Considering they escaped on foot with only one suitcase each we don't have as many tangiable memories from their side of the family.
I am an art teacher, photographer and most recently a cabin renovator. My husband and I are fixing up an abandoned 30 year old cabin that was not quite finished. I am always on the lookout for vintage items that would fit well in our West Virginia getaway. So far we have purchased two vintage iron sinks, one for the kitchen and the other for the bathroom.
