A few year ago, I made a woven wall hanging to hang above my couch. I absolutely loved the freeflowing process of combining different textures and colours of yarns in different stitches to create a piece that was completely custom to me. It had all the colours that I loved in my home and brought so much texture to the wall that it hung on.
Now, three years later I live in Calgary and make regular journeys into the mountains to hike. The scenery is breathtaking, but what really draws my attention is the breadth of colours that I find in the rocks. It's mind blowing to me that these bright, sometimes vivid or even neon colours come from nature. I'm endlessly inspired by the colour combinations that I find in the rocks, so I decided to allow them to inspire my weavings.
