Born from boredom

Around a year and a half ago I got bored of being bored. I realised that spending all of my spare time watching How I Met Your Mother was probably the reason why I was feeling pretty useless. So I sat down at my desk and tried to think of the things I really enjoyed and I realised that I've spent most of my time at uni wishing I more artistic and musical. This led me to join my local choir and to start drawing more too.

I can't quite pin point the reason why I decided to start designing my own cards but I had been making my own ones for people for a while. I always made silly cards for my friends and one says he still has a card I made him on lined paper for his birthday (although I don't remember it at all!).

So after coming up with some ideas I orded some greeting cards blanks and started making them. I'm a sucker for cute animals so having animal themed cards was a given and I get most of my inspiration from nature books and animals around me. It was around this time last year that I put them up for sale on Etsy and I'm really happy with the response I've had so far. The first cards I put up for sale were very different from what I sell now because I always try to be quite critical of my work so that it can improve and now I love how they've turned out.

I think if it's special and unique to that person, then a greetings card can really make some ones day, which is why I'm always trying to think of new and different ideas.
I like cards that are simple, original and cute which I hope are qualities you can see in them too.

Welcome to Animal Cafe!
After getting a bit bored of watching How I Met Your Mother all day (can you tell I'm a student?!) I figured I should get a hobby! I've always enjoyed drawing and making silly cards for others, so I thought setting up a wee shop on the internet would be a good way to get some productivity back in my life!

Cows have always been my favourite animals and you'll see them a lot in my cards, but I also like to draw Wallabies and come up with other weird little ideas too!

I put a lot of effort in to each card I make and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them!
