Inspired by design...
I opened my etsy shop in the spring of 2012 at the urging of my son and daughter in law who love this site. I love it too! Although it is so huge that it is difficult to be discovered, so any help you can give me on that is appreciated.
I began my jewelry business in 1986 while at home with 2 small children. It has been my full time occupation since then - right through having a third child and becoming a sole support parent.
Actually, the birth of each of my three sons brought with it a huge flood of artistic energy - I wonder if I would have followed this profession if I had not had children... It was wonderful to work from home - and now with etsy more parents will be able to provide an income in this way!
I am totally self taught in my original style of continuous line wirework (my terminology). My passion for nature, sound, movement and all things artistic and creative definitely influence my designs and guide my life.
I have an ongoing passion for designing jewelry, springing from a desire to please people (and a background in marketing and psychology), and a willingness to consider all tastes and styles.
It is important to me that my jewelry expresses uncommon artistry - that it does not look like other jewelry - or maybe similar, but uniquely different. I do not work from books or use other people's designs. All of my designs are from my own mind, created with my own hands.
In my creating I love to surprise myself - to be inspired by design. To be inspired literally means "to breathe in", and I live for those moments when I know I am in the flow of life-giving creativity.
I have many lines of jewelry - color changes (interchangeable discs), talismans honoring women, stonewear, studs, hoops, music and dance, designer and gallery.. Once I figure out the photography I will be able to show you even more of my designs.
Over the past 30 years I have sold my jewelry to over 500 stores across Canada (a few in the states and elsewhere), and have taken part in over 150 juried retail craft shows, and at least a dozen trade shows. I have been slowing down in recent years, and am now being very selective about the few galleries that show my jewelry.
I would welcome enquiries from quality brick and mortar stores anywhere in the world. The more exotic the better at this stage of my life!
My own domain: AWTdesigns.com will also link you to my etsy shop.
In 1993 I opened my Spirit Space Studio Gallery in Flesherton, Ontario, and closed it 22 years later in 2017. It was a wonderful period in my life to be able to connect personally with so many interesting people.
Check out TheArtMap.com if you are interested in exploring the arts in Grey-Bruce, southern Ontario. We link with the Bruce Peninsula - it is a wonderful place to explore! I do sell my jewelry at the Owen Sound Artists' Co-op, the Southampton Arts Centre and Local Colour in Flesherton. Let me know if you want to meet up with me for a custom order consult or a tea visit!
I believe in online shopping as the future for many artists, although seeing things in person will always be my first choice. I am grateful that etsy has been created and that it is managed with such integrity and vision. Here's to success for all of us here!!

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders
I am happy to create something or re-design to suit you. I can work with beads you send me or we can discuss the options I have on hand. Just start a conversation with me.
I often give measurements in my descriptions, but each piece of jewelry is made completely by hand and some variations may occur. If you have a specific size requirement I can work to that, just add a note to your order.
Sterling silver will tarnish over time. If you keep it in a zip lock bag it will help. You can clean it with toothpaste, or any silver cleaner. Avoid dip-it cleaners containing sulphuric acid as they will make it tarnish faster.
Argentium sterling silver does not develop black tarnish, but it does develop a slight yellow tone which wipes off with a cloth.
Gold-filled and niobium do not tarnish.
Gift wrapping and packaging
I send all orders in tissue and a small gift bag. Please specify if you are ordering more than one and they are gifts.
I will consider wholesale purchases to brick and mortar galleries anywhere in the world. We can discuss minimum orders and wholesale rates - just start a conversation with me. I want to see art and craft stores survive and I may be able to help you! My jewelry sells very well and I have good wholesale rates.
