About

I'm a Great Lakes girl, through and through. Born in Kalamazoo, MI and growing up and living in Wisconsin, Missouri and Minnesota, not to mention spending a couple of years in Montana, I have been afforded a unique tour of the States. I have been married to a wonderful Brit since 2011. Since 2013, I've had an even bigger adventure after my son was born. As an Englishman's wife, I've had a few opportunities to travel abroad. These experiences to unfamiliar lands make me appreciate where I'm from all the more. (But, if you ask me, I'd take the lakes, streams and forests of the Upper Midwest any day of the week!) My jewelry adventures started in a quaint shop in St. Louis, MO, in 2006(ish). There, I learned the basics of crimping and finishing off a necklace. I've been hooked ever since!

My experiences in the Great Lakes area have really inspired me. My parents used to take all 5 of their kids to places like Devil's Lake State Park or the North Shore to hike on the waterfront with the rocks drug up by ancient glaciers to tempt me to climb. Is it any wonder that I have a love for old rocks? The more rugged the better! I am always inspired by rough and organic shapes and edges. What could be better? (OH! I know! FOSSILS!) I am just amazed at what pressure and heat can do to the earth. I take pride in avoiding dyed rock, when I can, for that reason. (A part of me dies inside when I have to use man made materials.) The natural beauty is more than enough. Nothing artificial for me!

One caveat, though, ever since I started sewing, I've used fabric in jewelry. It's fun to try something new!

I'm an Upper Midwesterner who hopes to live near a Great Lake. Preferably Lake Superior! Because Ohio is Erie. Did I mention I love dad jokes? I've lived in SE Michigan, S Wisconsin, Missouri, the Twin Cities (MN), and Montana. Temporarily a Hoosier!
