5 out of 5 starsThe ring is absolutely amazing and better than we expected. It's all real materials human tested (friend has where gold turns skin colors just a lil haha). Goes with my wife's ring perfectly! The ridges are there but not annoying. Well worth the wait and communicated very quickly!

5 out of 5 starsAnne was great to work with, and I'm beyond pleased with the final piece. She did tell me upfront that because of her high demand, it would take several months to make it, but it was well worth the wait. The pendant has gotten many wonderful comments.

Me at my bench, using my 10x loupe to closely inspect the current ring in process.

Every mokume gane ring goes through this process of twisting the raw material. The twist helps create the pattern.
-
A freshly bonded billet of silver and copper. I will press, forge and roll this down to become sheet for my bracelets.
-
Stamp-patterning the back of a silver/copper bracelet. The pattern will be visible on the front after filing and sanding

Mokume Gane: gratitude for finding my niche
Although I have been working in metals since 1991, it took many years after graduate school to find my niche. After receiving my MFA in Jewelry/Metals from San Diego State University in 1999, I worked at a graphic designer desk job for 8 years. I was also an adjunct teacher at Southwestern College in Chula Vista CA, teaching jewelry/metals, art history and 3D design for 11 years.
In 2007 I met a fabulous group of mokume gane artists working in Corralitos, California - Toshi, Earl, Jerry and Gene. I am forever indebted to them and their generosity - with them I learned to fuse, forge and pattern mokume gane using traditional Japanese methods. I went home to San Diego after that determined to make a living working in mokume gane. It took a few years, but now in my own studio I am doing just that.
I fuse my own mokume gane in an electric kiln and use a hydraulic press to help with the forging (I learned those updated techniques from James Binnion and Chris Ploof). My patterning techniques range from chisel to stamping and twisting, drawing inspiration from the complex patterns and texture found in nature.
I am thrilled and full of gratitude to be working in this field; creating unique rings for couples in the U.S. and all around the world, patterning and raising mokume vessels, educating the public about mokume gane and training a new generation of mokume gane artists.

Returns and exchanges
Please understand that due to the handmade nature of mokume gane, each ring will have variation in color, pattern and texture. These are not considered defects, but rather are an integral characteristic of the material. I cannot guarantee in case of allergic reaction to metals, or in the case of scratches. I do guarantee that my rings are as sturdy as any other created in silver and gold, but be aware all silver/gold rings will scratch when exposed to harsh conditions.
Returns - If you wish to return a ring for any reason not considered by Anneville Studio to be a defect, please be aware the return must be received back to my studio within 30 days of receipt of product, and must be in unworn condition. Please contact me before returning a ring, otherwise no refund can be given. All custom work (all rings included) will incur a minimum 20% re-stocking fee. Most rings with stones are not returnable.
Payment
For custom work, I will send you a custom listing to purchase. A soon as that listing is purchased I will get started on your order. For orders over $1000, you are welcome to pay in two equal installments - the first as a deposit to begin your order, the last 50% due just before shipping. Please request this option by convo so I can set up your listing correctly.
Shipping
Your item will be shipped 3-5 days after purchasing, unless it is a custom order. Custom orders generally take 4-6 weeks. If a balance is due, the completed order will be shipped 1-3 business days after the balance is paid.
Orders under $200 are sent via USPS priority. Custom orders, all rings, and orders over $200 are shipped via Fedex 3-day with signature required. All packages are insured.
