About

Monthly Blog - July 13, 2016

I'm sitting in my workroom surrounded by textiles of indescribable beauty, waiting to reach their full potential in your creative hands. The sheer amount of stock, well It's a bit overwhelming. And then, on top of that, I myself am bit overwhelming - too many ideas, too many plans and not enough focus or planning - new unique ways to introduce my lovelies, and a personal longing to create......It's July of 2016 and I'm ready to challenge myself and test my "mettle", which is "in the position of being incited to do one's best".

Current Shops
Petal Annie - I started out on ETSY selling pressed flowers and pressed flower art. There is a whole story on how I came to love pressed flowers but I can sum it up in a few words, love of gardening, nurturing, color, beauty, detail, intricacy, texture, nature, science and my Ma. We had the honor to be featured in the May 2015 issue of Country Gardens Magazine and the july/August 2016 issue of Chicagoland Gardening.

Annies Antiques - An antique textiles shop (ribbons, trims, beaded pieces, laces, fabrics, embroidery, millinery flowers and trims, ribbonwork, braids, cords, tassels , fringes, appliques, etc.) For me, each element in the shop is a fascinating piece of history - I often think of the person that took the time to create the garment as I'm repurposing, undoing the sweet, even hand-stitching, and how they would either be jubilant (or appalled!) that the raw materials that they used were going to have a renewed purpose again, a readmiration, in our hands,

Metallic Trim Emporium - Metallic threads, lace, trims, ribbons, fabric, cords, braids, tassels, fringes, embroidery, ribonwork, etc. What do I LOVE about metallic's? The convergence of femininity and masculinity, dark and shiny patina, a dose of strength and a degree of harshness, the cool feel, weight and texture as I hold them in my hand, running my fingers across the pattern.......

Annies Lace Shop - My love affair with antique lace will never end. I acquire based on two criteria - beauty and intricacy ....

Project Inspire Me - this is the shop that allows me to be a bit of a philanthropist! The theory behind Project Inspire Me is simple - through my Facebook page, Project Inspire Me, I challenge you to create and then share what you created. In my ETSY shop, Project Inspire Me, I provide a listing set up just for you with the raw materials of my choosing - the listing is free and so is the shipping! There are two ways to be challenged, the first way is you accept a challenge on my Project Inspire Me Facebook page, or, if I know your work, I may challenge you directly.

Barneys Antique Fun - it's not only textiles and pressed flower art that keeps me busy, but I am a bit of a collector of other sweet and charming antiques. Barney is my 3 year old Bichon, brought home by me from a local rescue in January 2015. He loves to hang around me while I photograph and list my lovelies, so he and I decided he should have a shop and a blog. His shop is on ETSY and his blog (Barneys Antique Fun) is on Facebook. He is quite a sleuth when it comes to "sniffing" out delightful antiques and he's planning on hamming it up on his Facebook blog!!

Pretty Bitty Scraps - A meeting place for all of my other shops' little leftover pieces Along with offering textile scraps, I will also be offering supplies to use with the scraps.
