About

For your kindred spirit

When Another Time Antiques started I was at a transition point in my young life. History always taught the same old story line - politics, wars, industrialization, presidents, more wars on and on. As a woman I felt a complete detachment! So in my 20s I ventured into an exploration of woman's history and Another Time was born!

My goal has always been to show history through the artifacts and real pieces in the lives of women. I do not claim to know every famous woman in history - nor was that my ever goal. What I found myself accumulating were objects and stories of the every day life of women in my region of western NY.

Selling antiques requires a sense of focus - you just can't know everything about everything! As my business took shape I found 3 areas pulling at my heart strings: Vintage Fashions, Textiles, and Kitchenware. Out of just those 3, great loves developed for clothing, accessories, jewelry, trims, laces, fabrics, linens, needlework, glass and china, kitchen tools, and the wonderful stories behind each and every piece! Each tiny segment is like a Pandora's Box into a whole new world of understanding.

Something very profound struck me early on: Everything is of value regardless of price. Whether it is a cut glass pitcher or a tiny common button - all pieces have their place in history! It is only our perceptions that place things in an order. When each one is taken individually, the stories can be endless. No one is any less than the other.

I carry this philosophy with me in all aspects of my life. Now in my 60s I know that the business I started so long ago had many more purposes than to just feed my fancy for wonderful old things. Learning history through object is fascinating. Learning life through history is priceless!

On June 1, I will close Another Time Antiques at Etsy and continue the process to retire from my lifelong career. Thanks to all who have visited and shared my journey. Stay tuned to the shop announcements and my blog as I move through this final process.
