About

Our mission: Providing perfectly peculiar, powerful, prurient and picturesque prints

Welcome to our shop! We have been working in the digital reproduction field for 16 years and and have mastered the nuances of printing; from the smallest sizes to mural-sized graphics. If you have any questions about us or our services please feel free to contact us. We do custom photo searches, file preparation and custom sized printing as well.

We carry a wide selection of hard to find, rare and unusual photographs and posters, as well as original art. All items are reproductions from original files, carefully polished and prepared, and are printed on heavyweight 260 gsm (very heavy) photographic paper. We print from Canon Imagegraf 8400 using genuine Lucia inks.

------------------NOTE: NOT ALL PRINTS ARE CREATED EQUAL!------------------------------

Don't purchase a print from just any vendor. Investigate how and with what those prints are produced.

Photo reproduction prints are a product of the mechanical printer, the quality of paper used, the quality of inks used and the human printer's eye and expertise.
There is a difference between the commonplace laser printer (as one would find at Office Max) and a professional state of the art giclee printer, like we use.

Our inks are archival pigmented inks, not dyes like a home ink jet printer uses. They are fade resistant for 100+ years. These are the inks sought by museums and galleries for their accurate color reproduction. That is, they are the only inks able to match an artist's palette or photographer's images.

Add a discerning and experienced eye, and you have all the makings of a superior print. In printing, like so many other services, a lot of factors determine the quality of the reproduction. How thick (or flimsy) the paper is, the resolution of the original photograph, the expertise of the individual processor/printer and the time spent polishing the image to perfection prior to printing.

Not only are we professional, we are nice people with big hearts. A portion of our proceeds goes to housing, feeding and caring for the large panda population recently discovered in New Jersey. Thank you for your visit and have a pandarific day-

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the inconsistencies of computer and mobile device monitors/screens, neither we nor any other print producer can produce a print that is an exact match for what may appear on a particular screen. This is because a computer or mobile screen uses radiant light, also called active lighting. This is light coming from a singular contained source, an example being light coming from a light bulb, whereas a print is viewed in passive more ambient lighting which will also interact with a print or glass-framed reflective surface. This is why changing a print's location in a room, for example, can subtly change the print's appearance and ANY image viewed from a screen will appear brighter than the actual product. You can see this for yourself simply by holding a thick piece of paper in front of your monitor and noting it's brighter appearance. It is lit from behind by a concentrated light source. Don't let this scare you. It is only because we wish you to be an informed customer and because we like showing off our technical knowledge, that we are explaining this to you!

Also, please note that vintage photographs were, by definition, taken with cameras before such thing as high definition capability existed. Further, the types of film used, ambient lighting and stability of the photographer's hand were sometimes less than optimal. The lack of laser sharp definition is thus not a defect in the printing process, but a hallmark of historical photographs. We believe that this characteristic is what makes vintage photographs so unique and interesting and consciously choose to not artificially enhance their definition in such a way as would make them appear inauthentic. We respect their original integrity. That being said, where there are obvious flaws often found in vintage photographs (scratches, spills, incorrect exposures etc.) we expertly correct them.

DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING POLICIES:

- All orders ship from Asheville, North Carolina in 3-5 business days. All orders will ship First Class mail via USPS, in durable cardboard mailing tubes or reinforced flat envelopes. Tracking will be provided.

-WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIPMENT AFTER IT LEAVES OUR HANDS AND IS EN ROUTE VIA THE POSTAL SERVICE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DELAYS IN POSTAL DELIVERY, OR DAMAGE OR THEFT IN SHIPPING. WE WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE POSTAL SERVICE ON YOUR BEHALF. PLEASE READ OUR POLICIES BELOW REGARDING PRINTS DAMAGED, STOLEN OR LOST IN THE MAIL.

THIS IS WHY WE RECOMMEND PURCHASING INSURANCE UP TO $100.00 FOR $1.50 AT
CHECKOUT.

(USPS is no longer providing insurance for lost or damaged packages free of charge.)

-If you have a rush order or need any mailing upgrades, rush handling and priority shipping are available at check-out. Similarly, if you would like to purchase insurance coverage for your purchase, you may choose that option when you check out.

Very occasionally, a shipment leaves our hands and is detained or delayed for reasons out of our control. Please note that tracking numbers do not mean that the USPS or other postal service knows exactly where your package is at all times or that it knows exactly when you can expect to receive it. Obviously, the same goes for us. Sometimes there are delays in shipping! But 99.9% of the time the shipment does indeed arrive.

-Should your tracking seem to stop prior to delivery, and you have questions or are desiring further instructions PLEASE CONTACT USPS OR YOUR COUNTRY'S POSTAL SERVICE DIRECTLY. We cannot get any information that you can't and will not act as your agent in communicating with them. Similarly, if you did not purchase insurance at checkout and your package is lost or damaged, you must contact USPS or your country's postal service directly.

-If you purchased insurance at checkout and your package has not arrived within 20 days after it's expected delivery date or arrives damaged, it will be your responsibility, not ours, to file the insurance claim. (The USPS insurance company requires a 20 day grace period to "wait and see" before a claim can be filed. This is their requirement, we don't make the rules.)

-Rest assured that all packaging is strong and durable. These prints are our babies too. As noted above, you can arrange to have upgraded shipping with insurance when you check out.

ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS:

The base rate for international shipping is based on a shipment weighing more than 8 ounces. If your order weighs less, we will refund the difference in shipping cost to you at the time of shipment.

International packages are subject to customs inspection. The wait time varies depending on season and country being mailed to. This can effect delivery times. We have no control over this, however, if you would like to add additional tracking and delivery confirmation services, please let us know at the time you order. These additional services and their cost vary from country to country.

OUR RETURN POLICY FOR INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS IS EXPLAINED IN "DETAIL IN THE "RETURNS AND EXCHANGES" policies section above.
