Note from shop owner I am going to put Aphix on hold for a little bit. I have some other fun things I am looking into and need to focus my efforts there.

Thanks to everyone who has come to the store, made it a favorite or had bought an Aphix to enjoy. I really appreciate all the interest and feedback. I will be checking email so please ask away if there are any questions. I will also still be posting a bit on twitter (@theaphix).

It's a very cool idea. It just doesn't hold my phone like showed in the picture. I tried everything to get it to work.

Notes and Disclaimer:
Your technology is important to you, please play with your Aphix before putting your technology high above very hard surfaces. As every octopus knows, suction cups are great. But they also know that how well a suction cup holds depends on the surface. The cleaner and smoother the better, even better with a little moisture on the cup itself.

Aphix FAQ
Will the Aphix work with my phone?

Aphix works with the iPhone 3G/3GS, 4/ 4S and 5. Our customers have used it on many other phones - Samsung Charge, HTC Evo, etc. The main requirement of any phone is that the back of the phone is smooth and untextured.

Are you sure about the iPhone 5?

Yup, the iPhone 5 should work even better than the 4/4S – in my opinion. Its greatly reduced weight should allow even more secure suction. The aluminum back is smooth and only very lightly textured.

How do I get the suction cup to stick (the best)?

Suction cups are pretty versatile, especially if you follow a few rules. The surface you are sticking to should be smooth and clean. Glass is idea but counter tops, desk tops, smooth sealed wood, also all work well. A little moisture helps a suction cup get the best possible seal. This can be as little as just breathing on the cup before setting but a little water works as well. Press the suction cup down as far as it will go and you are set.

Will it work in my car?

The answer to this depends on a lot of things. Firstly, the Aphix can stick to any smooth surface be it in your car, home or office. A lot of car surfaces are textured so that in itself might be limiting. However, if you have a good surface, your Aphix should hold your phone with the one cavet being that a lot of vibration will at some point set you Aphix free.

If you solely want to use your Aphix as a in car mount I would actually suggestion getting one specific for the task. If you are interested in a mobile mount to use at home, in the car and at work then the Aphix is for you.

Will it work with my case?

Smooth and flat are the two big indicators that the Aphix will work with your case. I have tried with the Speck Candy Shell and had it work great.

How about Wood Backs/ Cases?

Wood gives great warmth to a device like an iPhone or a smartphone in general. The issue with Aphix and wood cases is wood grain. If it is deep and there isn’t a varnish or laqure on it, the grain can allow for inperfect sealing of the suction cup leading to no or poor suction.

How is the Classic different?

If you looks closely between the Aphix and the Aphix Classic you will see that on the Aphix the design in symmetrical and uses two different type of links. With the classic, which was the first Aphix style I made, a single link is used. Both work exactly the same. Also with the Classic, I can offer an All White offering which some of you might like.

My Aphix seems kind of stiff?

All joking aside, sometimes the links go together and are a little more stiff then you might like. On one side this will make sure that your Aphix will keeps it shape no matter what, on the other sometimes you want it a little easier to shape. For this would say, just take some time and play with your Aphix. Bending and unbending, this typically makes the links a little smoother if they are tight. And heck, they are actually fun to fidget with.
