How April's Beadworks came to be:
Siempre me han apasionado las artes y las manualidades. Llevo haciendo joyas desde pequeña en la iglesia, trenzando pulseras de la amistad. Al crecer, mi abuela me enseñó a crear piezas más elaboradas. Cuando perdió la vista, me regaló todos sus materiales y me obsesioné un poco. Finalmente, mi tía me introdujo al mundo de las cuentas, tanto en telar como sin él, y me enganché. No solo me divierte, sino que es increíblemente terapéutico. Tengo una discapacidad y sufro de problemas de salud mental, así que encontré en las cuentas una distracción del dolor, creando diseños y aprendiendo nuevas técnicas. Debido a mi discapacidad y a que aún lucho por mis prestaciones, espero que mi pasión por las cuentas se convierta en una actividad lucrativa con el tiempo y pueda brindar alegría a mis clientes a través de la creatividad y mi propio trabajo. I have always had a love for arts and crafts. I've been making jewelry since I was a little girl in church, braiding friendship bracelets. As I got older, my grandmother introduced me to making more advanced pieces. When she lost her eyesight, she gifted me all her supplies, and i became a bit obsessed. Eventually, I was introduced to loom and off-loom beading by my aunt, and I was hooked. It's not just fun for me, its incredibly therapeutic. I am disabled and suffer with my mental health, so I found distraction from the pain in beading, creating designs, and learning new techniques. I Because I am disabled, and still fighting for my benefits, my hope is that my passion for beads will become lucrative over time, and I'll be able to bring joy to my customers through creativity and my own handiwork.
