This work of art is among my favorites. It's stunning in a quiet sort of way. Everything about the piece just works, from the great, underused name "Ursula" to arms perfectly open to her little bear baby. Such an interesting, pretty piece. Very satisfied.
The creative drive keeps me on my toes, moving from painting to sculpture to fiber art. Each medium informs the others and common themes weave them together - nature, archetypes and the beauty of the human spirit and form.
My sculptures and dolls are hand sculpted and one of a kind. I buy natural roving and batting from local farmers and enjoy the process of hand spinning, dying (usually with plant dyes) and felting the wool. Starting with raw materials allows me to work intuitively and respond to what each piece wants to become!
I live and create in a little blue farmhouse in the Ohio River valley on an acre of gardens and shade trees with my daughter/muse. When I'm not painting a portrait or knitting tiny clothing, you can find me making Waldorf style toys with my munchkin, digging in the dirt, practicing yoga, cooking with whole foods, reading voraciously, geeking out on fantasy t.v. series or, if your lucky, dressed up like a fairy and dancing with my daughter.
My other shop is SarahPogueArt and it features my portrait and fine art paintings.
I try to bring a little more magic to the world through my artwork and to use eco friendly materials and techniques as much as possible.
