We bring you the best rare breeds from around the world from small crofts, share holdings and farms. Queen Conch Rare Breed Yarn & Fibers was created out my love for the timeless, unique, and obscure. I've always shied away from status quo, I've now extended that into my hobbies and, out of need created a business. I could never find a place on line or in person that had everything I wanted, so i made my own. I want to be a one stop shop for fiber and needle art lovers to find unquestionably beautiful and rare item as well as handy tools to allow them to create their own one of a kind unique creations.
I have a love for things obscure and shy away from status quo. I have a special place in my heart for old fashioned things. It saddens me that we have lost sight of the old breed animals in light of profit and excess. The gorgeous breeds that made our cultures unique are fading away and we have no idea what we are losing. I make it my goal to only carryvrare, endangered and heritage breeds. I want to bring to the world the beauty of natural colored fibers, hardy breeds that made us who we are to day. Sheep that are unchanged from era of their use and those that still thrive in their homelands.
I've had the opportunity to live in SW England for a year With my husbands job. This had been quite a blessing for this wool gal. Its given me the opportunity to make some great connection i, person with some of the greatest farmers and shepherd's in England, Scotland and Wales bringing you the best they have to offer.
I hope these rare breeds speak to you and tell you their by gone days of history.

Frequently asked questions
What is a "sample" in the Samples Listing
They can be prepped or Raw it's up to you. The listing you have selected is for touch and see samples. They range from 0.1 to 0.25 +/- oz so you get to see what they look and feel like. I do this because I have very rare breeds many people have never touched, seen, or heard of.
The larger samples (0.25oz) are the raw so you know how it will wash or scour.
These samples are not usually large enough for most people to spin, some use for felting art though, because they only need small amounts.
Care instructions
I do not sell Washable or SUPERWASH wool. ALL ITEMS ARE GENTLE HANDWASH ONLY. Real wool, untreated from real sheep.
It is my belief that Superwash Wool is no longer wool. It has been stripped, chemically treated and plasticized. It is terrible for the environment and frankly defeats the purpose of wools traits, benefits and characteristics.
Breed Study kits
These are a selection of wools and breeds chosen by you. Chose 4oz or more of fiber divided how ever you choose.
Educational Wool Kits
These kits are used for breed study, Master Classes on a breed, or for Scholastic activities. The Museum of Salisbury in England is a repeat customer! This has been a wonderful for many school projects as well.
Included is detailed information on each chosen breed and a selection of photos for each breed.
