Beautiful all occasion cards at a lower cost than Carlton Cards. One of the people I've gifted them to framed it and now hangs in her front entrance way.

Artist Statement and Biography
It is difficult to look at my work objectively and write a statement. My art comes from my soul, I have a connection with each canvas or paper that I paint on, even the ones that end up in the recycling bin! The subjects I chose to paint are wildlife and nature. I chose those as I want to remember. Remember the looks, the attitude, the movement, the connection that I feel with each animal and each place I visit. I think it is also important to remember the endangered species and my body of work, as it keeps growing, has often been a great conversation starter and awareness discussion.
I am a materials’ explorer, I mostly paint in watercolours but I also love oils, graphite and soft pastels. Each medium takes me to a different zone and teaches me something new, every day. I strive to use products that are highly pigmented and created by chemist and master paint makers, these are the paints and products that I have found are able to give me the harmony and depth that can help me capture the emotions of the animals, and landscapes, in my paintings.
My art discoveries started in 2015 because of a genetic cornea disorder (and later on a cornea transplant) but this was only a trigger, now I create because I need to create. I feel there is a requirement for me to document, track, sketch and mostly, absolutely, paint.
I think viewers are most interested in my art because they can recognize the familiar or be transported into the unknown but what each and everyone comes out with is a journey into a scene with movement, emotions and peace.
Chantal Dupuis is native from Hull, Quebec and now lives in Orleans, Ontario. Always enamoured of the wilderness and myriad arts and crafts, she began to paint by chance in 2015 when, impulsively, she bought a sample kit of student acrylic paints from a local craft store.
Diagnosed with a rare genetic corneal dystrophy that same year, she became so light sensitive that she was mostly housebound and lived in perpetual twilight, leading her to attempt to capture nature and its inhabitants at home, where the student kit spurred an exploration for a medium that fitted her needs.
In 2017 she was scheduled for surgery and received a donor cornea, which changed her life, and she continues to strive to capture the soul of all of her subjects.

I can say that I am addicted to painting! I paint because I need to paint. I love all the critters of this world and love the challenge of painting them while also documenting their beautiful features and expressions.
With a mother and a mother-in-law (Chantal) who paint, I am well acquainted with the art world. I take care of the business side of things, fulfilling orders and talking to customers. I also help Chantal with making a few items for the shop.

Frequently asked questions
Gift wrapping and packaging
At this time, we do not offer gift wrapping.
How will my original artwork or print be shipped?
Original artwork sold through eCommerce platforms will be protected by a sleeve. Artwork cannot be shipped framed due to the fragility of the glass the frame would require. Rest assured that everything will be packaged properly in order for your work to arrive safely. Where possible, the artwork will be shipped flat in a strong box. In the case of prints or originals that do not fit within a box size permitted by Canada Post, the work will be rolled and shipped in a tube.
Does my original or print includes framing?
Unfortunately, no. All original artwork and prints are sold unframed. It is recommended to frame original watercolours or pastels behind glass upon arrival. A local framer should be able to advise you as per what is the best option for framing your new acquisition.
How do I care for my artwork or print?
Watercolour: Watercolours are done on paper, if left unframed the paper will warp and the paint could fade/smear/run if exposed to humidity or direct sunlight. It is not recommended to hang a watercolour painting (even framed) in a bathroom or in high humidity areas.
On that same note, prints should also be framed and treated like a watercolour as this will ensure that it will last a long time.
Acrylic and Oil: Both are pretty sturdy once dried. It is not recommended to hang either in direct sunlight and not too close to heat source.
The artwork I received doesn't match the colours on my screen.
We try to make sure that the colors you are looking at on your computer screen are as close to the original piece of artwork as possible. There are many different types of devices/computers and monitors and therefore there may be differences in the brightness or colorations of what you see versus the real thing. If this is an issue please contact us so that we can discuss how we can help.
