Why are aspect ratios for digital files important?
An aspect ratio is simply a measurement of width compared to height, expressed in a fraction. For example, a 2:3 aspect ratio could be printed in a poster size of 24"x36" (12 goes into 24 twice and into 36 three times) or a miniature portrait such as 4"x6" (2 goes into 4 twice and into 6 three times).
When printing digital files you need to ensure the aspect ratio of your image matches the aspect ratio of the print you want to produce, so it fits perfectly on the canvas, paper or other medium you select. Otherwise, your artwork may be cut off, or your print may contain unwanted borders or other unexpected white spaces, leaving you dissatisfied with the final result.
The most popular aspect ratio for printing is 2:3 (see chart below).

Why are PDF files used to download digital artwork files over 20 MB?
𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎 𝐌𝐁: The short answer is Etsy limits the size of the listing files to 20 MB and our files with detailed artwork average 40 MB, so they're too big. Using a PDF as the download vehicle means we can offer you stunning, high-resolution digital artwork files printable in extra-large sizes, up to 3 feet!

Can I use the Etsy app to download my digital purchase(s)
