I bought the lovely and charming Hazel Door Mouse graphite drawing to add to my collection of mice/rat art, and what a wonderful addition it is! She's a darling mouse, and she arrived safe and sound thanks to Rachel's secure packing for the trip over the Atlantic. Rachel does beautiful work, and I'm sure I'll be collecting more of it!

About

Science Illustrator and Wildlife Artist.

UK Wildlife and Science illustrator.

Rachel is an artist and illustrator based in Devon, England who explores the beauty and complexities of the natural world, much of her work incorporating underlining environmental themes. After graduating with honours from her three year study of Illustration, Rachel now works as a professional Artist and Illustrator in her home city of Plymouth. She currently works with Gallery @ 500 Feet situated in North Devon, selling original drawings and prints of wild floras and faunas.

She specialises in both traditional pencil and ink drawings, with many of her personal works incorporating pen and ink pointillism, an intricate process involving the layering of hundreds and thousands of small dots to create tone and texture of her subject. With patience and discipline, her work aims to represent the qualities of nature's fragility and complex forms by heavily focusing on detailed and intricate structures.

Private Commission Policy Breakdown:

50% Deposit (and material costs subject to commission type) is required before the commence of any and all work. The remaining fee is to be paid prior to the delivery and dispatch of final art work.

If you wish to cancel the contract before any work has begun you will receive a full refund of your deposit. If you wish to cancel the contract at a later stage and depending on how much of the work has been done you will be refunded an agreed deposit amount. This amount will cover the time and materials used to the date of cancellation. If the entire art work has been completed and you decide to cancel the contract you will not receive a refund of the deposit as this covers the time, materials and work gone into producing the final art work.
Payment
Payments Accepted:
I accept multiple payment options, including Paypal and Etsy Gift Cards.

Payment terms:
You must pay in full before your item will be printed and dispatched(This includes private commissions). Made to order items will not go ahead, unless full payment has been accepted. If you attempt to cancel after the 12 hour cancellation period, your order will be processed as usual and item will be dispatched to you.

Reservations Accepted:
Reservations on items are accepted. I tend to allow a 3 day reservation policy. If item has not been purchased within this time period the item will become public again. This policy can be negotiated on request, but please note, if you fail to purchase the item within the new negotiated time, it will become public and you will be unable to reserve any more items in the future.

All custom orders and/or commissions are subject to an initial deposit payment prior to the commence of any and all work. See below for more information.
Shipping
Any item returned to me due to an incorrect, outdated, or insufficient address at fault of my own and not the customer, will incur new shipping charges. However if customer fails to supply correct shipping address the customer will have to pay any additional shipping charges for that purchase, including re-shipping.
If the customer fails to collect their item and that item is returned, the customer agrees to pay additional shipping charges and the redelivery of that item.
If such case the customer supplies incorrect shipping address or fails to collect their order and the order is returned but decides they no longer want the item, the customer will only be refunded the item cost, not the delivery costs.

International Postage:
Orders outside the UK are accepted, but please note I send both prints and original art works via International tracked and signed as it is the safest method of shipping, meaning any items that become lost can easily be found and insured. I know postage can seem somewhat overwhelming, but it is also expensive. I remove the material costs in order to keep the international postage as reasonable as I can. I take great pride in my work and also in my customer service and only want your order to reach you safely and in one piece. I hope you can understand.

Processing and Print turn around:
Please note all prints are printed by order and the ink requires at least 24 hours to settle and dry, before it can be packaged and dispatched. Any items ordered on a Friday will not be processed and/or printed until the following Monday. Any original drawings purchased on a Friday will be packaged over the weekend and dispatched early the following week.
All items are usually dispatched within 1-3 working days (subject to item). Please check item information regarding dispatch. Items which require additional handmade or drawn additions will take between 5-7 days to dispatch. Any longer and you will be notified immediately.

Postage of Prints and Art work larger than A4:
Please note prints larger than A4 and original art works are posted within large diameter postal tubes. If you do not wish your item to packaged in this method and would prefer your item delivered flat please contact me either before your purchase or immediately after so that I can arrange an alternative method of packaging for you. I post with postal tubes as it is the safest method of transport for large and original works - items are less likely to become bent or creased.

Delivery estimates:
UK: 1-7 working days (Subject to item)
International: 5-14 working days. (Subject to item)

International Orders:
International orders can take anywhere from 5-14 days from date of dispatch, however please be aware that it can take longer. Items can be held up at Customs for days and weeks. I, the seller, am not responsible for the duration the item is held at customs nor am I responsible for any potential Custom charges that may occur. Custom charges are the responsibility of the customer.

If you require an item urgently, please do not hesitate to contact me in advance so I can arrange a faster delivery alternative. Please note, that delivery costs will increase if courier needed or an alternative form of packaging is required.

Private Commissions:
Dispatch will vary depending on the commission and amount of work required. Please message me to receive a more accurate estimated time frame for your particular request.
Additional policies and FAQs
All original works are sent with Special Delivery for extra security and to get to you as quickly and safely as possible, this is the prime reason that postage is more costly when purchasing original artworks. They are fully tract, so if items were to become lost or damaged, the situation can more easily and quickly be sorted. I do not offer negotiations regarding method of delivery in regards to original art works, I am sorry for the inconvenience. I would hate for them to become lost and take great pride in my original drawings - many hours were spent producing them.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I not get a full refund if I change my mind about a commission order?

Once you have placed an order you have agreed to the terms and agreements. Please read these before placing an order.

Much work goes into commissions: initial sketches and hours of work just for you. If you change your mind, I the artist have already spent hours producing the work to your specifications. My time and money has gone into producing it. Your charge will cover time and expenses. You also will not be subject to postage refund both original and return. If you no longer want the item it is you the customer responsible for returning the item in its original condition. You must package it securely and pay for return postage to be entitled to the 50% refund policy. If it is received damaged you will not be refunded.

Wrong item or damaged.

Please photograph the item/ and or damages and send them to me through private messaging here on etsy.

Customer must pay initial return postage, but will be fully refunded including item and any postage fees once the item has been returned to me/ and or replacement will be issued and return postage refunded only. If a replacement is sent customer will not need to pay any additional postage fees.

Postage says postal tubes, but I would prefer my order to be posted flat.

All prints and drawing A3 and above are sent in wide postal tubes via Royal Mail. If you however would prefer your item to be sent flat, please private message through etsy to discuss alternative postage.

Please be aware items sent flat/and or with courier will incur a higher postage fee.

Custom order cancelled but did not receive full deposit back?

Once you have placed an order you have agreed to the terms and agreements. Please read these before placing an order.

If initial sketches are carried out but you decided you no longer wish to go ahead with the commission, you have already agreed to pay the artist for their time and materials up to the date of cancellation. This is because I have already put my time and energy into producing initial ideas and sketches for you and covers the cost of my time and any materials used.

Why is postage so expensive?

Prints sent within the UK are sent first class. Original drawings on the other hand I send via the safest and securest method of delivery possible: Special Guaranteed Next day delivery.

All orders outside the UK, will be sent via International signed and tracked, or the safest possible postage available for that country. This makes it much easier to locate if the parcel happens to go missing.

I aim to supply the best possible product and service possible and this sadly does not come without it's costs. I make no profit at all on postage and in order to keep the postage costs low I tend to knock off the majority of packaging material costs.

I aim to be honest with my customers in regards to costs.
